  1. The spot July 12, 2016

He’s a f****g ***hole. Didn’t do s**t. Has way too many regulations on businesses, and is just another stupid liberal democrat who thinks that taxing Americans is the answer. Wrong!

  2. My3Sons_NJ July 8, 2016

Even as a Democrat, I have to admit that the economy under Bush was better as was the foreign policy and adherence to the rule of law. Everything Obama has touched has basically turned to crap .. my health care costs are up 80%, my wages are flat and most people in my neighborhood can only find part time work. Iran, Libya, Syria, Iraq, etc. have all fallen into complete disarray from relative stability under his watch and 20 vets committed suicide each day in 2014 due to the complete collapse of health care under the ACA. Yes, I can see why Bush is rated much more highly now.

  3. oportosanto June 20, 2016

I really can’t get why so many people say Obama was disappointing, even more when the previous president was Bush!!

  4. Hades June 20, 2016

Millions of people around the United States Of America are honestly politically illiterate. There is nothing wrong with that. One problem I have with people is when they talk about how much they don’t like the president, but honestly if they seen him in person, they’d be quick to try and take a selfie pick with him.

I think Obama is a joke, and how he tries to appeal to the community as the cool president is not good enough for the individuals such as myself who understand politics and economics.

Barack Obama is a liar, he has lied to the faces of everyone in the country who has paid attention to his speeches, ever since 2008 he has been telling people what he is going to do, but the majority, literally 95% of the time or more, he can’t do what he says he wants to simply because he has to go threw congress to do it.

  5. Bhaskar June 20, 2016

Obama has done good things and bad things. He has made some impressive progress with developments such as Obamacare, maligned the status of gun control in America, rescinded his proposal to attack Syria, wants to make changes to the post-secondary education system, made progress at climate Summits, taken troops out of Afhganistan, reduced the national debt, and helped to finalize the Iran nuclear deal. There are problems with all these projects, but he has contributed to at least making the public aware of them, as well as making a many positive changes. However, he has also authorized more drone strikes than Bush, gone after marijuana dispensaries even though he said he wouldn’t, prosecuted whistle-blowers even though he said he wouldn’t, approved of the NSA government surveillance program for citizens of the United States, proposed attacking Syria in the first place, removed not just troops from Afghanistan, but also foreign aid, causing further turmoil between the Sunnis and Shiites, not done much to change gun control in America, organized Obamacare poorly, not done much to change the education system, not reduced debt or helped the environment enough, failed to address that Islam is a part of the problem with ISIS, and didn’t fix many problems that may become more potent with the Iran nuclear deal in the future. Again, like all Presidents, he is a politician, so he has to try to please everyone, which makes it impossible to do everything right, and makes it hard to be completely honest about certain issues. He is also human, so while I’m sure he has good intentions, he sometimes makes mistakes, and his are more costly than those of almost all other people.

  6. My3Sons_NJ June 18, 2016

President Obama is definitely the most disappointing president in my lifetime and once the expected downward GDP revision comes at the end of the July, one of the worst presidents of all time .. and I say that as a former supporter. He was given an awesome hand in foreign policy with the Iraq War won, Al Qaeda decimated and pretty much relative peace and minimal worldwide terror and he absolutely squandered it due to gross incompetence and misplaced tolerance of jihadism. I still, after trying very hard, can not find one foreign policy success his entire administration.
He was given a bad economic hand but has done nothing to improve the overall situation. I am much worse off due to heavy healthcare expenses that I have had to incur due to the very high Obamacare deductibles and I am ready for a change .. as is the country.

  7. Lupers June 18, 2016

Obama is well known, and well liked, buy many young Americans, this is due to his great and positive social media precense and his online precense. He doesn’t try to hard to be likable.(read:Hillary Clinton) I’m just wondering why he’s staying in DC for two more years. If I was home I’d leave the office and never look back, especially if Trump becomes president.

  8. Carsonova June 16, 2016

Hey Tgthewriter1, we need to focus on survival. Absolutely. But without the healthcare plan, what chances do the less fortunate people have of survival. Jobs can wait because a healthy country is a happy country.

  9. Carsonova June 16, 2016

My personal opinion is that Obama has done great things for this country and he is an exceptional man as well as a beyond exceptional president. I really don’t know why we are concerning our selves with yesterday’s news when our country is about to be handed to “Billary” or “Drumpf”. What about our children? Huh? I know when every one of you had a child you promised your child and yourself they wouldn’t have to face the same struggles you did. So why, then? Why are we standing by as a less than exceptional man who knows nothing about foreign policy or anything else for that matter and “Billary” run for a presidency they are both not exceptional enough to fill? So I say, stop trash talking a wonderful president who has yet to do something as stupid as presidents in the past, and fight the future!

  10. Jeremiah June 16, 2016

I belive Mr. Obama is the best president.

  11. Alex June 16, 2016

Mr. Obama’s faults were that of this. He doesn’t know how a country truly works. If he did he wouldn’t have tripled our debt.

  12. pwarbi June 13, 2016

There’s no doubt that Obama and his performance as president as split opinion in the US, with the majority of people I’d say, saying it’s not bern what they thought it would have been.

Looking back though, people voted him in because they wanted the first black president, rather than because of his policies so is it any wonder that his term as president hasn’t been the most successful.

  13. sulfi.backer June 9, 2016

  14. Anonymous June 8, 2016

I think his 8 years was good for usa

  15. 111kingsley111 June 7, 2016

I believe Barack Obama has done a decent job. I wish Obama would have focused more on job opportunities than Obama care. People need more jobs, and improving healthcare won’t change this.

  16. Rob June 6, 2016

I always liked Obamas oratory skills, and he seems to be effective at his goaslls. Even if I don’t agree with his agenda, you gotta agree he is effective.

  17. oportosanto June 2, 2016

So true, the health care system needs to change simply because it doesn’t make any sense that a sick person cannot access health care, that has to change!

  18. Demron May 29, 2016

    Very validating points!

  19. lisasian86 May 27, 2016

I think Obama has made a good choice with Obamacare, it’s not perfect but it’s heading in the right direction and at least he has tried to do something about the health system.

  20. tgthewriter1 May 25, 2016

I should have voted for somebody other then Barack Obama. If I knew he would start the health care plan. I would have never voted for him. He should not have did it. Americans focus on the dumbest things. American people need to focus on the things that really matter like money and survival.

  21. tgthewriter1 May 25, 2016

Most of the speeches that he made was pointless. The reason they were pointless is because they changed nothing. People in United States are acting crazy as ever now. This country has now turned into the “survival of the fittest.” People are becoming very cold hearted and mean. I think the economy has a lot to do with it.

  22. tgthewriter1 May 25, 2016

The job market is really bad. I personally think that the president is the main reason why the economy is so bad. The politicians need to do a better job on deciding what jobs should get cut. I’m not blaming Barack Obama for everything that has happened in recent years. But, he shouldn’t have created the health care reform. A lot of people would of still had a job.

  23. tgthewriter1 May 25, 2016

He gave many speeches on making the economy better but it’s worse then it use to be. The economy is worse then it use to be. The main reasons is because of health care reform and because of some government money laundering which makes no sense. I personally think the government is causing the economy to behave the way it is now. People do not go out of business for no reason.

  24. tgthewriter1 May 25, 2016

He messed up the health care. People do not want to pay for health care because they have too many bills to pay already. The health care is not a problem. I think that Barrack Obama should have been focusing on the job market. People are losing their jobs left and right because of this stupid health care reform.

  25. tgthewriter1 May 25, 2016

I regret voting for President Obama. This president has made the job market worse with the health care reform. It was a stupid idea. Everybody should have full time job but the health insurance is causing people to work part time. That is why it is difficult for people to find a job. It’s because Barack Obama messing the job market up.

  26. Abigail May 23, 2016

Barrak obama is doing everything to keep us safe!

  27. oportosanto May 23, 2016

No question that most military will support Obama because he pulled you out from Iraq. More, I think Obama did a great job and many forget how he found the country when he started.

  28. Naturalbeauty92 May 20, 2016

President Obama was set up for failure from the previous presidents. I’m in the military and I support Obama fully. People love to look from the outside in but do not actually get the behind the scenes. I am an honest American and I do not point fingers at a president just because he is the president. Obama is just a figure of the white house. However, Congress runs the whitehouse. Anything you dont like Congress either made the law or approved. We all know this country been at its worst since forever lol. No one has done more damage than Bush.

  29. Joken4 May 17, 2016

For so many people not to like President Obama i find it very surprising. Just food for thought.

  30. oportosanto May 16, 2016

He tried to make a change and he did succeed to make that change in some areas like less soldiers in war, health, debate about gun control and so on.

  31. jahroberts May 15, 2016

    His whole promotion was ‘change’.

I understand how he has helped and what he has done, but has their been any change? Any REAL change? It still seems as though he’s kept it to ‘feed the rich and f*** the poor’. It’s sloppy and he was elected on the premise of change, where is the change!?

  32. jennifer belle fowler May 14, 2016

I think we really need a change, and he has done nothing to promote it, this country is in trouble, don’t know if the trouble started before he got in office or he just added to it.hopefully we can become a great nation again.

  33. gmckee1985 May 13, 2016

Rated him as a 2/5 although I’d actually give him a 1.5/5 if I had the chance. He just hasn’t been a very good president. His foreign policy is subpar. All he has done is weaken America’s standing in the world. Economically, he has also been subpar. Economic growth has been below average for his whole presidency. And socially he seems to be relentless in pushing a far left agenda. Ideologues don’t make very good presidents.

  34. oportosanto May 12, 2016

The fact that he is likable is just because he does things most people also do, so we can relate to him. He is not in a high place that we cannot understand…

  35. Courtney Munn May 12, 2016

I am not really sure what you mean by your post, but if you are saying than Obama was a better president than Bush, there is no real question there, way better in my opinion.

  37. Jason schmieg May 10, 2016

I think Obama has been a president more commemorable then his predecessor bush whom this country was completely corrupted by

  38. oportosanto May 9, 2016

Sure, healthcare is basic, but a step was taken in the right direction by Obama. Anyone should be able to get it regardless of having insurance or not, that is simply scary.

  39. powerboyb May 9, 2016

My main issue is healthcare. If my mother can not afford to provide healthcare how is she expected to be able to pay a fine for not having health insurance?! Fine the poor? When in history has that ever worked?!

  40. ToneyWatermeloney May 8, 2016

I don’t understand why people are against Obama. He made this terrible country into a slightly better one and gets this much flack for it? Doesn’t seem fair to me. He has brought to light many issues America has and has done his best to get rid of those issues. Which is more than I can say of other US presidents. Although I do not agree with him on all fronts, namely the one about feminism and racism, I do think he has done a great deal to improve gay and other LGB rights in America. Which I think is very commendable.

  41. Norjak71 May 2, 2016

For all the heat President Obama has endured I wonder if it because he is a successful black man? He has bought to light issues with climate change, immigration, tax reform and health care. He was the residing president over the term that ended Bin Laden’s run of terror. When we look back in history several years from now he will go down as one of the best president’s ever. His education school tax credits personally gained me thousands of dollars on my taxes to continue to go to school.

  42. Sealpikachu May 2, 2016

Coming back here just to comment on the mic drop he did. I personally like how down to Earth that was. It really helps to remind us that the president is a normal person too.

  43. Jerriontye April 27, 2016

Once more I agree with you @Lantek. He is a down to earth person, so most people understand what he is trying to do and say. It’s harder to understand what he doesn’t do, but making things happen is hard when the power is disperse by so many organs.

  44. oportosanto April 21, 2016

  45. Lantek_ April 20, 2016

A very charismatic person, but in terms of presidency he has been generally ineffectual. His campaign motto was “Change” but we haven’t seen much of that. He did implement universal healthcare, but the handling of that has been less than stellar. One word I would use to sum up his presidency would be “meh”, this is accompanied by a shoulder shrug.

  46. George Edwards April 13, 2016

  47. mlu1702 April 11, 2016

by far the best us president as far as im concerned. one cannot deny his charisma.

  48. JusApee April 11, 2016

I like Obama. Many people here said that he is ineffective, but I really think he is doing his best. Despite all the racism in this world, he managed to achieve presedency and came up with organizations like Obamacare to help people. I think he is a great president and most of all: a great person.

  49. crc3thebest April 10, 2016

I would have to say Obama has been a great president addressing a broad array of issues for the American people. There have been many times where I am surprised by his zeal in immigration affairs. The Dream Act illustrates just how much easier he truly encompasses the moral life of an individual.

  50. Rajendra Rajwade April 10, 2016

Obama is no doubt one of the greatest President of the US. As per PEW job ratings in Dec 2015, Obama’s job rating 46% which is above Bush’s, below Clinton’s and at par with Reagan in their second term.

Obama has been successful in maintaining the Oil prices in 2015 upto $ 30 per barrel which had soared to $ 130 per barrel in 2014.The downfall in the Oil prices has helped the world to curb inflation and to restrict the global recession.

Obama is the first black US President and will be remembered for his diplomacy and his contribution towards World Peace and making the US feel proud of him.

  51. Utah April 9, 2016

I have to disagree with the majority of people here. I think Obama is a great president. Despite persistent income inequality, stagnant wages, a broken immigration system, the threat of ISIS and plenty more woes, Obama has been great.

  52. Anonymous April 9, 2016

    I thinks it’s perfect

  53. tskier01123 April 6, 2016

I had a lot of hope and belief in Obama when he first started running. A combination of being ineffectual and having his hand’s tied really turned me off of believing the Office of the President of the United States was anything beyond a toothless animal. While Obama has certainly done some positive things, I have to wonder how much more he could have accomplished in his life if he was smart enough to stay away from the Presidency. I like him though, seems like a genuine person (as professional politicians go) and seems to be a good family man. A shame that he became President as soon as he did. I don’t think he knew what he was in for.

  54. andrew April 1, 2016

this America hating pathalogical LIAR is turning us into a 3rd world country and sending us into the path of Brussels by shipping his killer buddies from jails everywhere to the US without venting them as this weak establishment republican party does nothing. Welfare/foodstamps up 3 fold, debt doubled, less workers in the workforce since the 50″s, dividing the American people as never before, more fraud, waste, and rip off of the taxpayers while rewarding the MOOCHERS . Obama has let out over 9000 prisoners in our country to poison our children, kill, rape, and steal from the very people that hold up this country. This fraud of a leader will go down as the worst president no matter how much the fake news media hides his failures. Every day will show another horrible decision no matter how much the socialist liberal democrat MOOCHERS try to rewrite history!

  55. oportosanto March 31, 2016

I also believe that Obama wanted to help, but he simply got stuck with the system. He seems a really simple person, but the fact is he wasn’t able to change much.

  56. jaspervance March 31, 2016

Obama did not really stand out. He did not stand out as a great president, or as a bad one. When he gave speeches, he spoke of wanting to do so much, but when he worked his day to day business, it was business as usual. I really have nothing bad to say about him, he just got our country 8 years further in its history. He probably has a bright future ahead as a speaker, because he can really inspire people with his words.

  57. GreenEggsAndSam March 29, 2016

I believe that Barack Obama is a man who genuinely wanted to help, and I respect him for that. Unfortunately, his healthcare plan in practice is not as workable as any of us would have hoped. I think his drive to get it done truly came from a desire to get healthcare for as many people as possible, and I truly support his goals. Obamacare in practice caused insurance rates for most people I know to go up. I think the next administration should try to fix this broken system, but Obama should not be blamed for how badly it went, because he did genuinely try to help people.

  58. MarkOfDavison March 28, 2016

I think he was a president to wanted to get things done, and in several cases used power that he does not have. He seemed to have his heart in the right place, but was badly misguided. The solutions he tried to implement do not solve problems, and only cause more. He will be remembered as a president who tried, but it did not work out.

  59. ZXD22 March 26, 2016

He is an alright president in my terms. He is way better than any of the nominees running currently this election. The first “black” president in the history of the United States and he didn’t do that bad of a job. Of course there are many people out there who criticized him, but he has not harmed anything terribly. He helped added many jobs and get the automotive industry rolling again.

I think President Obama will go down as one of the most famous presidents in American History. This is not to say I agree with what he has put our country through in the past 7 years. He was simply just a strong president that used his the Executive Branch to get a lot of things done. This in fact, is a part of American history. Throughout our history the baton of power circulates between the three branches. In the case of Obama he was able to utilize that power and push through the things he believed would be the best for America. I can’t say I’ll miss him but he is indeed a successful president in his own right

Of course he is not a bad president!
I think that he was the first one who said logical, impressive things, of course there are a lot of choices he made had his team behind.

Being president is a teamwork, not a personal business, but he is a common sense man.

  63. BoostedGear March 14, 2016

Considering the fact that Obama has completed every major goal the republicans had, and more, he can’t be considered a bad president. This man has changed this country (mostly) for the better. Obamacare may not be amazing, but we can’t let this overshadow his greatness!

  64. UnslaadKrosis February 25, 2016

Barack Obama has done a lot to reverse the situation that the US had been going through, mostly with its dwindling grasp on its own economy. It’s just too bad that almost none of his proposed bills and proposals were passed in the senate. But what would you expect from a senate with a Republican majority who hate his guts for absolutely no reason other than he’s a democrat!

  65. korriken February 7, 2016

Obama’s really no worse or better than Bush. To me the main difference is, he squandered the greatest opportunity in modern American presidential history to get things done. He had such a commanding majority in both houses that he could pass most anything he wanted, and he chose to pass Obamacare which polled extremely negatively.

That and his constant whining about how people were being mean to him got old.

He got something Bush never did; a media willing to shield him. Even Bush’s inauguration was bashed by many in the media as being ‘extravagant’.

Of course, Bush’s legacy is one where the economy tanked at the end, which was something that had been set in motion years before he even took office.

  66. Summertime January 30, 2016

I’d say President Obama has been one of our greatest presidents in recent memory. The man has reversed much of the bad that was inflicted under Bush, and helped move our country in a different direction.

  67. richj8am30 January 29, 2016

I think that given the circumstances that Obama was left with, he has done a good enough job. We could’ve stayed in the decline that the recession had kept us in, i just do not agree with many of the policies that he seems to be able to pass without much resistance.

  68. atlmom5 January 24, 2016

President Obama has done an okay job, but I want to focus on the things that have bothered me about President Obama and other leaders in Washington. President Obama and everyone else in Washington really let me down with the government bailouts, giving to these banks and corporations that actually had a hand at bringing our economy down. I think the President isn’t doing a good job on this front at all. Our economy has not recovered. I’m glad more Americans have health coverage, but I don’t like the fact that people will have to pay a fine if they decide not to get government healthcare. I have private healthcare, but I feel for people that don’t want Obama Care. It just feels like their being taxed for being alive. Saying all of that, the President hasn’t had a lot of help either, so

  69. tomservo January 23, 2016

I think Obama has been a good president, considering what he stepped into and had to go up against. No president is perfect, and Obama is no exception, but he did improve the economy, he did get us out of a recession, and he did keep our country relatively safe compared to Bush. I think if we ended up with Clinton, Romney, or any of his other opponents, the country would have been worse off.

  70. mistermagoo January 20, 2016

Naah… I’m not a supporter of Barack Obama and I do not think that he has done a good job. In my opinion, the deal with Iran was a huge mistake that should never have been done and just puts the world into danger. Look what happened to North Korea after Bill Clinton made a deal with them – they’re testing nukes.

  71. DancingLady January 19, 2016

I feel Obama has done as good a job as anyone could given what he has had to deal with and the kind of people he has to work with in congress. At this point, the whole political system in our country is so full of career politicians that don’t really care very much about their constituents at all and just want to be their for the power it gives them that any president who really wants to do something to help out the average American is going to be up against all sorts of opposition. I don’t agree with everything Obama has done, but I think he really cares about people of all economic and social statuses.

  72. sharatharadhya January 15, 2016

I believe Obama has done a decent job. The man can justify everything he has done and I believe that is a great personality. He has stood by the values he believes in and he has strived to implement them. I think it is fair enough to say that a man who doesn’t shy away from being bold can be trusted more than other secretive leaders. I have great respect for him and all his accomplishments. Remembering the mess previous leaders had left, I think he has done a fair enough job to rectify these mistakes and mishaps. I am not sure if he was the best president, but I am pretty much sure he fits the list.

  73. torajap January 4, 2016

I actually like him as a president. I didn’t follow his career as an Illinois senator, but as a president he did well. The economy in U.S. is in a pretty decent condition in comparison to Europe for example, and also his foreign policy was good as well. So, no complaints here.

  74. Zamininc January 2, 2016

I don’t feel like Obama is a bad guy at all. But he’s definitely not what’s best for the U.S. The federal government just seems to be getting bigger and bigger under him to the point where it’s starting to effect us everyday citizens. No, I don’t think Obama is a socialist or a communist, but I do feel like his policies shift us a bit more to the left than I’m comfortable with.

  75. SirJoe December 28, 2015

Obama was a breath of fresh air. He might of made some mistakes but the US couldn’t remain on the same track that it was taking. He was under extreme pressure both internally and on the world scene, but dealt with it the best way he could. I didn’t find it correct that he received the noble peace prize the same year he took office. If e deserved to win it it should have been given to him when he left office.

  76. Esperaholon December 22, 2015

    1. Obama is not Kenyan – he is an American citizen who was born and raised in America. His father is from Kenya, but that honestly doesn’t mean much of anything. It’s a moot point.

    2. It doesn’t matter if he’s a good speaker if he can’t be bothered to fact check himself or actually put actions behind his words.

    3. He was the lesser of two evils twice – if McCain hadn’t been taking crazy pills or Romney hadn’t be a worthless, out-of-touch, cartoonishly evil jerk – I would have never voted for him. I don’t really like Obama as either a person or a politician, I just don’t hate him either. He’s more of a disappointment then anything else.

  77. Pepper170 December 20, 2015

There are some seriously polarizing opinions on Obama. Personally, I think that he’s done a fine job and doesn’t deserve the criticism. He’s a strong leader, a very mature person, and incredibly smart.

Disagreeing with his policies is understandable, but I don’t see the hate for his character. He’s the best candidate we had in 2008, and again in 2012, whether you’re a democrat, republican or independent you should agree.

  78. ellyjude December 18, 2015

The power of a man can be determined by the number of people he can get to concentrate on his speech. President Barack Obama is one of the best speakers U.S has ever heard not mentioning Martin Luther King. He deserves another term of leadership according to me.

  79. ellyjude December 18, 2015

Leadership comes with challenges and i think president Barack Obama is facing some of them now. No one is perfect and we all know that but it is evident that he is trying his best though some issues seem not to be working as expected.

  80. ellyjude December 18, 2015

Obama’s father was not linked by anyway to the revolutionary Maumau movement in Kenya during the colonial period as #jaolemes says. I’m a Kenyan by birth and can tell of the history of our state. First, Obama’s father belongs to the Luo tribe while the revolutionary Maumau movement was for the Kikuyu tribe. You can dig into history if you wish to know more of it.

  81. ellyjude December 18, 2015

I agree with the #deligentworker that Obama is really trying out his best for America. In politics there are some people who are just out there to spoil others’ name and i think this is what is facing him right now. Out of a 10, i would probably give the current U.S president a 9.7 rating.

  82. ellyjude December 18, 2015

I totally agree that he deserves to rule as president for another term. I guess it is because he is a Kenyan too just like I. That aside, most of you will agree with me that he has had to make hard decisions for his country though some have negatively affected his state. It’s a thumbs up from me.

  83. Esperaholon December 17, 2015

As an independent I am not fond of Obama. I have never been fond of Obama – I feel like he is something a shyster in that he will parrot back whatever seems to be in vogue. If throwing black people under the bus means middle America likes him better – awesome. If forgetting about LGBT causes makes him a bit more palatable – fantastic. If repeating back bias, unscientific rhetoric is what it takes to get ahead – so be it.

And that quite frankly disgusts me. Does that mean I think his scoring on this page is fair? No. It does however mean I can’t rate him more than a 3. He has handled some things really well, and he has also done a godawful job at other things. In many ways he was the lesser evil when it came to election time, but he might have done better if the American Voting population was so idiotic and deliberately uninformed.

There is no point in voting for a President who has no support from the Legislative branch – and all the old crooks, shysters, and morons were left in place or replaced by worst jokers. I could just about swear we need a better module in place to teach kids about how government works and how they can fix it a little better with only a bit more effort.

But yeah he could have been a better president, but I don’t know – he just doesn’t seem to get basic things like not bowing to the Republicans on economic matters and not bowing to the Democrats on social matters. He needed to have stood for something, because he ended up falling for a lot of malarkey. But it could have been worst – McCain/Palin and Romney/Ryan would have quite frankly killed this country… so yeah.

  84. HalfBeard December 13, 2015

It’s a shame how he has made the USA look so incredibly weak on the world stage. Our enemies don’t fear or respect us, out allies don’t trust us. And can you blame them? From our violation of the Budapest Treaty (in which we abandoned the Ukranians in the face of Russian aggression) to our lack of a response to Assad’s crossing Obama’s “red line” to our lackluster response to ISIS, we are no longer the world’s leader

  85. Alex_F December 12, 2015

John Quincy Adams said, “Always vote for principle, though you may vote alone, and you may cherish the sweetest reflection that your vote is never lost.” Although President Obama hasn’t fulfilled every promise he’s made, and he’s done some things I disagree with, I still support him based on his principles. He fights for the rights of the poor in this country (e.g. health care!) and for that I back him up!

  86. jliggins2002 December 12, 2015

There is no doubt President Obama can move a crowd with his speeches. I think that he is one of the great speakers of our generation. I do feel that he gets a bad rap for things that he nor anything president can control. Yes, we have gone deeper into dept and the country seems to be in unrest, but do you really think that is his fault. I feel he was dealt a bad hand and did the best he could.

  87. Rosomak December 10, 2015

I think that he should not be elected for the next term. He doing well everything but in my opinion Jeb Bush should be better.

  88. diligentworker December 9, 2015

President Obama has a kind, good heart, and he is well spoken. As a man, I respect him. He has strong political convictions, and he strives to uphold them. It is unfortunate that the government is so divided and flooded with self-centered, bullheaded politicians. On some issues, yes, my stance differs from that of Obama’s, but I can tell he’s doing what he feels will move the country in the right direction.

  89. phoenix2015 December 8, 2015

It’s difficult to tell what effect some of his administration’s major policies will have on the US and the rest of the world until some time has passed. If the effect is positive, then the next president will have an easier job than President Obama. If they are negative, then the next president will continue the trend of inheriting, and trying to manage, a mess.

On a different note, President Obama is much more charming and likeable than former President Bush, unless you like that cocky John Wayne-esque swagger that characterised President Bush’s personality. But, Obama has a bit of a swagger himself, but it is combined with a charm and eloquence that was lacking in the Bush administration. Now, I know it sounds trite and superficial to mention these things, but they are extremely important considering the President is the person we choose to represent us to the rest of the world.

  90. claude76 December 6, 2015

Obama has done OK and he would have done so much better if he had more support from the congress and from republicans. He’s a good man and has tried to keep his promises, he initiated a change and I just hope the next president does the same.

I don’t really get why people criticize him so much. I know that he has made mistakes, but no one is perfect, and certainly politicians aren’t. He is the most powerful man in the world after all, and he’s managed this power pretty well after all.

Maybe it’s time we all stop focusing only in the bad things. Obama is a good man, has a kind heart and is a good president and has done many things for his country.

  91. jaolemes December 6, 2015

Can anyone confirm that his grandfather was affiliated with the Kenyan revolutionary Mau Mau movement?

  92. Andrew December 1, 2015

Like any president, Obama has done good things and bad things. He has made some impressive progress with developments such as Obamacare, maligns the status of gun control in America, rescinded his proposal to attack Syria, wants to make changes to the post-secondary education system, made progress at climate Summits, taken troops out of Afhganistan, reduced the national debt, and helped to finalize the Iran nuclear deal. Additionally, it must be phenomenally difficult to actually get anything accomplished, even as the President. There are so many layers of approval that have to be attained, so many loopholes that have to be circumnavigated, and so many relationships that have to be maintained that I’m sure it’s exceedingly difficult to make any progress at all, let alone significant progress of which everyone approves. I think Obama is much more good than bad overall, and he is certainly better than Bush on the vast majority of issues.

  93. krista93 November 26, 2015

I think that Obama had done very well. I do not think he has been the best president we have ever had, but I think he has done the best he could with the situation he was given. I am glad that he has done so well! I will not say it was any one president that let out country down. It has been several presidents. He has done the best he could in my opinion.

  94. shenwil November 18, 2015

I think Obama has done well all things considered. He has tried his best to amend for the bad decisions made by the previous administration. Yes some of the policies he implemented are not all that good. But at the end of the day the good out ways the bad.

  95. Jasmine2015 November 11, 2015

No matter who is placed as president, there are always going to be problems that can’t be solved right away. Then you have people being quick to blame the president for everything bad that happens but here is the thing. If people want the US to be a great nation it will take more than one person, it takes everyone living here. I don’t view Obama as some super hero, he is human like everyone else and will make mistakes like everyone else. I don’t know about you but I have no interest in sitting around pouting and pointing fingers. Though I do have interest in solving problems no matter how or who caused it.

  96. socialstone November 8, 2015

I think Obama has done an OK job, but his administration and some of the policies that have come out of it have affected Americans that live abroad in a terrible way. There are new rules in place that make it difficult to be American and a customer of a bank in a foreign country. New rules in the US are forcing banks in non-US territories to report information on their American customers to the US government. I can understand the need to try to prevent a lot of the tax evasion that goes on by big targets, but this affects the little people that are living abroad. I also don’t want to have my American banks refuse to continue my service because I live outside of American soil.

There are so many issues from the Obama that I could talk about, but the main one that I care about are the policies affecting people living abroad.

  97. thedcouch November 5, 2015

My problem with the President as his term finally draws near the end, is that this isn’t the last we’ll see of him. His bad policies and indifferent nature even toward his position wasn’t enough to stop a second term, but the blurry line between presidential and celebrity will carry on. It seems like he’s been on late night television more times than he has done state of the union addresses.

I would prefer these behaviors and skewed priorities be taken into greater consideration when electing top government positions. I don’t want a buddy who talks about his golfing average on television, I want a leader who is up for the challenge to make decisions and sacrifices for the country that I live in.

  98. charris89 November 2, 2015

Like many conservatives, I don’t agree with the job the president has done. The biggest problem I have with him is his foreign policy. It seems like he pushed away all of our allies, and made more enemies than we had before. Sure he came into a mess when he began his first term, but there is no excuse for the way he has conducted foreign affairs. What also irritates me is how he handles the ISIS problem. He tried using a rebel group to fight a group of extremists. Didn’t we learn from doing the same thing with the Taliban. I can’t get over this decision. Yes some conservatives are necessarily harsh on him, and yes I realize that he came into a less than idea situation. However I can’t excuse some of the things he’s done or some of the decisions he’s made. It could’ve been worse, but hopefully we can get a better president in there this next time coming up.

  99. Michael October 31, 2015

President Obama in my opinion is the worst president in history. At the start of his adminstration he made so many promises to the american public on change. And yes, we have had change but it has been worse with the continued spread of war, a false economic growth being held together by the printing of a fiat currency. also on top of that we see this constant push for taking away gun writes and freedom of speech. These and many constitutional rights should be upheld. Did he not take the oath of office to secure these things. So yes, President Obama is the worst president in history who seems to have an almost communist social agenda for the american public.

  100. Tuebec October 27, 2015

The main thing I think of when trying to decide if Obama did a good job or not is this: absolutely no president did a good job. Every person who’s been in office was, at best, just doing the best they could to try to make changes to an incredibly massive country with incredibly massive problems. At worst, they didn’t care about making positive change at all. And with that in mind, I can firmly say that I believe, however successful he may have been on various issues, I think Obama had the best interests of our country in mind, and that he has been overall honest. That goes a LONG way in politics.

  101. Alexa October 27, 2015

Obama has done a good job with the mess he inherited from the previous administration. He was always going to have a rough time, being black and his father being a Muslim as sadly racism still exists in the US and you can’t change the minds of some people.

As the President he is limited in power as to what Congress decides and while some of his policies may have been unpopular, if Congress vote them in, you can’t blame him; he’s just the person that makes sure it gets done.

  102. MichelleVL October 23, 2015

I think Obama has been a great President. He could of been a better President if he didn’t have to jump over so many Republican hoops to get anything done. It makes you wonder, if the Democratic party wins elections again, will America continue to suffer at the hands of petty and selfish representatives?

  103. Cue Ball October 20, 2015

Obama always struck me as a fish out of water. Someone who really does want to instigate positive change, but has to go through a political process that is muddied by the partisanship of a two party system and corrupt Senate and House leaders.

The system is too dirty for anyone to really do good things anymore without reverting to Executive Orders all the time. It would please me to no end to see Obama sign nothing but Executive Orders from now until he is out next November

  104. GoldenArrow October 9, 2015

When I consider the mess George W. Bush initiated during his presidency, I am amazed Obama has succeeded in pulling the economy out of the gutter and creating positive negotiations with Middle Eastern affairs.

However, I do agree with Juteshire’s statements, in that the right are too harsh and left are too forgiving. Obama has not a clean-straight forward record. He let Shell Oil Company have a shot at drilling the Arctic. He has had a flip flop stance dance with regards to other environmental policy issues. He hasn’t done much to abolish standardized testing in schools and he has not passed legislature that would make it easier for Americans to own homes, even though, it has been proven, that to keep a person a homeless, costs the country more money, than to give them housing, a means to make a living, and food stamps.

With that said, I encourage people who are too forgiving or too critical of Obama to check out this website: http://www.factcheck.org/2015/04/obamas-numbers-april-2015-update/

It’s fairly unbiased, in that it, provides facts on his record, not his party-affiliation.

  105. Juteshire October 3, 2015

As a conservative, I’m not a huge fan of Obama. I don’t understand why people think he’s a great speaker – he’s not a bad speaker, by any means, but he’s no Bill Clinton – but I think he’s a fairly moderate, intelligent leader. He didn’t really follow through on a lot of his campaign promises (where’s my hope and change?) and he hasn’t been a strong leader, but that’s more due more to vast political divisions in both houses of Congress than any lack of willpower or willingness from Obama himself.

I supported Romney over Obama in 2012. Again, I’m not a fan of Obama. I just think my fellow conservatives have treated him unfairly. He was obviously born in the U.S. (but raised abroad), he’s obviously a Christian and not a Muslim (but his devoutness could be questioned), and he’s obviously not been pursuing communist or even socialist policies (but his early mentors and role models were communists). There can be legitimate criticisms levied against the man, but most people on the right have been far too harsh, and most people on the left have been far too forgiving.

The middle isn’t a popular place to be in U.S. politics, and it’s becoming even less popular every day, but Obama’s kept closer to it than the average politician. He took a bad situation and made the best of it. I don’t like a lot of what he’s done (especially on immigration and gay marriage), but I respect him for avoiding extremism and at least trying to do what he thinks is best for our country.

  106. knitmehere September 28, 2015

People are too quick to judge on things that they know nothing about. The majority of the country seems to hate Obama because he supposedly hasn’t done anything. Well, if Republicans would stop blocking everything that he tries to do, then that wouldn’t be a problem. Do you think things would have been any different if someone else promising the same things as Obama would have been elected? No. He’s done great for what resources he’s had.

  107. misskrystal1982 September 28, 2015

I really think he went a completely different direction in his second term. He didn’t seem to be the same person when it came to what he was trying to do for the people.

While I feel he has tried to help in many places, he didn’t execute his plans well. That is the way it is sometimes, though. You can have great ideas, but unless the people with all the money like your ideas, you will get nowhere.
I don’t think he is nearly as bad as many people say he is.

  108. Neh September 28, 2015

I voted for the President – twice, but will disagree with those who think he will go down in history as one our greatest presidents. Despite his pledge, his administration is one of the least transparent in the last 50 years. He has seemingly shed military leaders who disagree with his policies and publicly ridiculed Romney for stating that Russia would be US greatest threat; a statement supported by recent actions of Putin. His foreign policy weakness has helped give rise to ISIS. The Iran deal, which he sees as his legacy, has too many flaws to enumerate and, according to numerous polls, is not supported by the majority of Americans At the very least, we are releasing funds to a nation the President freely admits funds terrorism.

While I supported the idea of health care for all Americans, I did not realize the burden would fall on the middle class; my premium went up over 40% while privitized health providers are making record profits.

The President has failed to institute viable immigration reform. Our education system continues to falter despite the billions of dollars paid to private companies to standardize curriculum and testing.

The national debt has increased to over $13 trillion. In 2013 over 40% of Americans did not pay taxes due to income level. Our social services are more over burdened than just about anytime in history. And, sadly, racial tension has risen sharply.

Is this all the fault of the President? Not at all. But neither he nor Congress seem to understand compromise or to listen to voices from both sides of the political spectrum. Unless there is fast action, the President will not leave a stronger nation when he leaves office.

  109. dechantajones September 26, 2015

I don’t follow politics as much as I should, which is why I joined this blog, but I get a lot of information from my friends about what is happening in the world in reference to our leaders. President Obama is very charming and has done a lot for the poor and working class but some of these changes seem to help people more that don’t want to get up and do for themselves. One thing I can say for when Bush was in office is there were a lot more jobs and less people relaying on the system, hence more people working.

  110. JohnB September 19, 2015

I think history may remember him differently than his approval ratings. Even from a conservative stand point this president has done a lot of ground breaking work that could have a lasting effect on the USA. Many of the hurdles and road blocks he has faced have been caused by congress. A congress that can’t get anything done besides play roadblock and fight with itself isn’t good for any president.

  111. zurcminister September 10, 2015

One of a kind President. Big thumbs up for his accomplishments so far but still has a lot to improve on especially on some critical issues. He will be forever remembered as a great leader and influencial personality the world over.

  112. IamTheShrike August 22, 2015

Ummmm, how can it be Dick Cheney’s fault? Republicans oppose his agenda because it is socialist and this is not a socialist country (well, the people aren’t, for the most part). He had a super-majority in the Senate, and control of the House when he was elected. The bills he got passed like Obamacare he did without one single Republican vote.

He has been a downright failure in so many ways, and yet, I believe, many Americans are just too embarrassed to admit they were wrong.

  113. alexm5 August 13, 2015

Obama has done a fine job, considering the situation in Congress and the House. Republicans shot down most of his well needed and great bills purely out of spite, as said by Dick Cheney. Too bad, he’s a pretty cool guy.

  114. GenevB August 11, 2015

Even though most of you will disagree with arguments like the one that he did not fulfill all his campaign promises, Obama was a more than decent president in my opinion. He had a though job, he kept his cool and did what he could. I’d give him an A for the whole time as a president.

  115. latisha96 August 9, 2015

A lot of people don’t agree with his presidency or policies. However, one should hands down agree he has the coolest personas out of all of the presidents. In addition, he also has an amazing wife! I’ve never witnessed a first lady that is so engaged with the country like Michelle was! Mr. President hasn’t fulfilled all of his campaign promises but I’d have to give him an A for effort!

  116. OfficialPolitico August 9, 2015

Please don’t pity him, he doesn’t need it! He has been and will continue to be one of, if not the greatest president this country has ever seen, or will ever see for a while. That man has seen this country through some serious crisis and since, has put his best foot forward, blending his form of politics with that of the right wing. They have not been easy on him, nor have they been on any democrat. However regardless of the harsher treatment reigned down on him for whatever their reasoning, he has been triumphant in making sure that what needed to get done, was done. It is truly a tragedy that history doesn’t see the good in a person until their legacy has been established after they die, but some of you, the very few who believed from the beginning and never wavered will be comforted in knowing that you backed the right candidate….not for his race, or his creed but truly by the contents of his character.

  117. lucky August 7, 2015

president obama to me is one of the best leaders in the world

  118. annie August 6, 2015

Obama has had a tough mandate, legacy of the past president. He made some equally touch decisions, albeit not very popular ones like obamacare. But I believe he is working for the greater good.

It seems to work towards the greater good (on paper) but public opinion is what it is, and I suppose this is how politics work everywhere.

I personally like the guy. He has his head on his shoulders, good emotional composure and intelligent. I don’t think his actions were the best, and while he might go in the dustbin of history, I think he’s adequate for the job.

  119. Buruku August 6, 2015

I’m surprised his rating is that low. I honestly haven’t lived through a presidency yet where people are happy and give a high approval rating of whoever is in office. I just think people like to focus on everything that’s wrong and blame it on one single person.

I’m worried about the quality of our candidates. They really REALLY seem to be going downhill, which maybe that’s why Obama won in the first place. I’m sincerely worried about who will take his place and I think a lot of people will end up missing him.

  120. jamesandrews August 4, 2015

Barrack Obama didn’t live up to his own rhetoric, and it’s for that reason that history will judge him harshly.

It didn’t help that the Nobel Institute awarded him its Peace Prize. This only opened him up to more ridicule. Am I right in thinking that he didn’t attend the ceremony in person?

Anyways, I don’t hate him. In some ways I pity him. I wonder what he’ll do once he’s out of office….

  121. michwest14 August 1, 2015

I honestly feel like Pres. Obama doesn’t get the credit he deserves. People don’t want to praise him for the progress that this country has made yet they want to blame him for every bad thing that has happened. People forget that a president is not a king. He doesn’t have control over everything that happens. He has to combat the congress which can’t even get their own crap together. I think Pres. Obama has done a great job with what he was given.

  122. mooray July 21, 2015

I think Barrack Obama will go down in history as one of the greatest United States president. People should cut him some slack, he is a better president than George Bush by miles. Just recently, Obama’s administration initiated the Iran-nuclear deal and the response was astonishing. In fact, most people who are criticizing the Iran-nuclear deal have not read the agreement terms and they are just mad because U.S.A made a nuclear deal with Iran. Can’t blame them for stereotyping, the Western media is the one to blame. Just because Iran is making nuclear energy does not mean they will nuclear bomb the West or Israel out of the face of the earth. It is just stereotyping that Middle Eastern countries like Iran, Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan have nothing better to do than scheme how they will wipe out the West. Of course, there are terrorists organizations like ISIS but terrorism is virtually in every country today. I would lose count if I calculate the number of times a lone gunman has gone rampant killing innocent people in the U.S. Gun violence is too much in the United States. That is why Obama supports a strict gun control policy. But most republicans are against such measures and until Americans realize that Obama is right and stop selling guns all over like toys, that will be the day murder rates will decrease significantly. Apart from that, I think Barrack Obama is one of the coolest and funniest president ever. Like that time when a certain guy told Obama not to steal his girlfriend.

  123. Bob July 16, 2015

He may not have fixed everything or lived up to his all of his promises, but he’s doing his best to do so. Obama has done a lot to fix the mistakes and problems in the past decade, he has fought with large opposition but he keeps going and tries. He’s not the best, but he ain’t the worst the States have seen.

  124. James July 3, 2015

History will no doubt call him one of our worst president ever. He ran on the premise that he was going to rain in Wall Street. Yet into thousand and nine shortly after being inaugurated, he called together the fatcats of Wall Street and told them, “the only thing standing between you and pitchforks is my administration.” During the presidency of George W. Bush, mini called him a lap dog for Wall Street. Yet W’s administration, prosecuted thousands of Wall Street folks, and convicted 1100. To date, the Obama administration has prosecuted zero and of course obtained zero convictions. Looks like he’s kept his promise to those Wall Street fat cats. So who is the Wall Street lapdog?

  125. ChessMax July 3, 2015

He’s had a pretty great last week, but I’ll admit that he’s been pretty disappointing at times. Part of the problem has been dealing with the insane right wing in Congress, and part of it has been playing politics with the public. I don’t think he’s done a bad job at all, but maybe didn’t reach his fullest potential. That said, being President is hard, and there’s a lot that goes on that we don’t fully understand.

  126. MorbidEntree July 3, 2015

I think that despite what people think, he has improved this country a bit. Of course he can’t magically make it all better, but he has improved it. I don’t think any president could just fix the entire country and all its problems in two terms in office.

  127. New Order June 29, 2015

Indeed Obama has been a 180º in USA politics.

Defining his career with social programs like ObamaCare but also with keeping that imperialist image of USA outside it’s borders, increasing debt and getting more tension against Russia. Good thing he can’t get re-elected

  128. dlawes100 June 25, 2015

The most recent issue with our President is he said the”N—-” word on the radio. Was this an appropriate word for our President to say? I think the way that he said it needs to be taken into consideration. He did not call someone a “N—-” word. He said racism is more than the use of this particular word. It was not offensive at all. What do you think?

“It is better to light a candle than to curse darkness”. If obama is not good enough, try to ask your self ” am i good enough citizen of the country?”

  133. dlawes100 June 22, 2015

I think the President is doing the best that he can. America has a lot of issues that need to be fixed. Rome was not built in a day. The damage that he has to deal with is so bad that I think it will take a lot of difficult decisions that will be good in the long run. It is not good to have ice cream everyday. Sometimes we need water that is not sweet like juice. We want what we want and not what we need. Are we even thinking about what we need? We should think about that the next time we are choosing a President to vote for.

  134. Devon Lawes June 22, 2015

I love the fact that Americans came together and voted for an African-American President. Whether he is a good president or a bad one, it was a huge breakthrough for all Americans to show that racism is almost gone. That we can stop our discrimination bases on race. It is a possibility. I remember when I was watching T.V., and they announced he was our first African-American President of the United states of America, we saw black, white, indian, spanish, jews, Russian, and other people from all nationalities cheering about what has happened. He may have done things wrong, but we should be proud of ourselves as Americans for showing that we do not look at skin color anymore when choosing a President. We have come a long way. We honestly believed in him. We thought he could help our country. At that note, our country needs a lot of fixing. Maybe we should be mad at President Bush. The war started when he was president.
No. We got to know that God is the only one who can say what will happen. We are so blessed tobe such a great nation. We the people need to do something. We need to help our president, not just hate him and pray that he makes the right choices for us.

  135. Se7en June 21, 2015

He did try his best, he did a lot for US so far.

  136. phoenix2015 June 20, 2015

I don’t have as strong an opinion as most about President Obama. I don’t think his administration has destroyed America, as some claim. He inherited a huge broken mess with the financial crisis (it happened in late 2008, he took office in 2009.) That being said, I, and a lot of people all over the world get the feeling his administration is a little weak and ineffectual in it’s dealings with the rest of the world. This Iran nuclear deal may turn out looking ok in comparison to the other powder kegs (Russia/Ukraine, Palestine/Isreal, China/South China Sea.)

  137. Liv6 June 19, 2015

I think that Barack Obama has done the best with what he has inherited from the previous administrations. That being said, I’m not so sure about welcoming new citizens into our borders from the populations of illegal immigrants just because the country’s debt is so high. I think Barack Obama needs to start looking more at the internal circumstances that would lead to a greater debt if he makes such decisions. However, I am not opposed to the legalization of these people; I just believe it would best be done under a better economy.

  138. gta5forandroid June 16, 2015

he has already done so much for the country and we all know that he is a true gentleman so regardless of what may other people think for me he is truly a remarkable president.

  139. black avenger May 30, 2015

this race baiting pathalogical LIAR president is doing everything to turn this once great country into a 3rd rate broken basten of crime. You could not pay me to ever vote for a socialist liberal democrat MOOCHER less be dammed if I sit and watch them ruin my home! After being a democrat for over 18 years, they and the establishment republican party should be taken out and treated the same as the traitor they are as what we did in the 1800’s!

  140. Diane Lane May 25, 2015

I’m concerned about the state of our country, and don’t believe this administration is focusing on what I care about most. Our border needs to be secured, and we need to decrease our debt. We can’t afford to take care of our citizens, let alone bringing in others, so I’m not in favor of loosening citizenship requirements, nor of mass amnesty.

  141. letssavemoney May 18, 2015

Obama has not been a good President, and the evidence is overwhelming but, the most devastating and insidious acts of his Presidency have nothing to do with policy. He is continuing the trend of the last few Presidents’ of extending the authority and control of the executive branch far beyond what it was meant to have and what the writer’s of our Constitution intended it to have. There are three branches of our government, and when Obama ignores the judicial and legislative branches to declare immigration reform and free trade agreements we’re that much closer to a dictatorship. And getting a Republican in the White House is NOT the answer!

  142. JohnB May 17, 2015

Approval ratings certainly do not tell the whole story. I think the president has made several difficult choices with what is best for the American people in mind. Sometimes the right thing isn’t always the popular thing.

  143. Katherinne May 15, 2015

I believe it’s a big change on USA and something maybe unspected for some people, but he has made great stuff for this country and that can not be denied. If you are gonna tell us something bad about someone, I think you have to mention the good things also.

  144. KaitlindBryant May 12, 2015

I find it revolutionary that we have an African-American president. I feel as if many people that hate him are only acting on their racists motives, perhaps without even realizing it. I know that where I’m from, many people call him evil and the worst president we’ve ever had. Is it a coincidence that these are the same people that also view black people as thugs and criminals? I don’t think so. A lot of the Obama bashing comes from the south. Some may have valid points, but I think the majority of it is due to racial discrimination.

  145. KaitlindBryant May 12, 2015

President Obama has tried his best in the condition that America is in right now. I was not a fan of his Health Care system, due to it being incredibly forced and overpriced for many people. However, there were many great things he accomplished that cannot be denied. He may not have been the best president we have ever had, but he was not the worst. I bet he’s excited to get out of there and be with his family, without the pressures of being a prominent political figure.

  146. Raphael May 11, 2015

Obama has tried his best although many would argue that the economy has not recover, still he has done some good things moreso in fighting terrorism.

  147. bonzer April 28, 2015

Just a few hours back, Wall street Journal published a story in which Obama pressed strongly for Asia trade deal. He is of the view that If US withdraws, then the dragon would fill up the vacuum, which could be an unprecedented setback for US. He wants to enact a free trade deal with Asia and strongly criticizes anti-globalization sentiments from Democrats.

I strongly feel that Obama is pitching in with right sentiments and he just can’t be written off blindly. The Congress must pay heed to his sentiments and realize the merit in his argument.

  148. radie April 23, 2015

For the last couple of years president Obama has been in authority, it hasn’t been good years in my opinion. I might be a bit biased because of American Israeli relations, but it still is a bit difficult. I hope a change for the better will happen for the next election, whoever president will be next, I’m hoping he would change things around for the better and for the good of the USA.

  149. bonzer April 20, 2015

He’s a great orator and has very good diplomatic skills. However, I somehow feel that he hasn’t been able to the economy the Philip it needed.

  150. TheBoss0567 April 17, 2015

I could write a 20 page essay on why Obama is one of the worst leaders the United States has ever seen. He hasn’t produced a birth certificate, fell through on everyone of his promises, the list goes on and on. Although, I must say I’d prefer Obama over Hillary Clinton any day. If she’s elected I’m moving to Canada

  151. tara12 April 17, 2015

I never liked Obama, but the other people running against him were not much better. Obama made a lot of promises that everyone should have known he would not be able to keep. His whole Obama care thing does not work in the United States at all. And now I find it stupid that people are going to be penalized for not having health insurance last year. Not everyone feels the need to have health insurance because they have had no health problems most of their life and see it as a waste of money since they do not use it. He could have done a lot better and should not have made so many promises.

  152. Jen March 18, 2015

He promised so much. There was no way he (or anyone) could deliver on his original campaign, or even the next one. I think the position of president is incredibly crazy to navigate…I can’t imagine trying.

  153. Mary March 17, 2015

President Obama has been given a world class education and has not really had the struggle. I don’t think he can honestly relate to the people he is trying to help.

  154. Josh Robbins March 17, 2015

I think the rating says it all. Politicians spend too much time talking and not enough time listening. I believe true statesmen (if they really exist) spend time listening and learning. We can all learn–even from people in other political parties. As the poem says “even the fool has a tale to tell”

  155. Geaniemarie March 16, 2015

I actually voted for Mitt Romney, so obviously President Obama wasn’t my preference. Now that I see what’s happened during this last four years, I’m glad Mitt wasn’t elected. Anyone who gets into this office is absolutely shredded no matter what they do, and since I like and respect Romney I would have hated to see that happen. As for Obama, I think he’s had his shining moments and his low points, but he is the President of the United States and we should respect him for that.

  156. Kevin March 14, 2015

Regardless of what people may think about him, the things that he has accomplished cannot be denied.

  157. Stick bogart December 13, 2014

I’m going to be launching a website that’s going to be somewhat like ripoff report it it’s going to be a political review site where the public and post Reviews about any politician in this country. It doesn’t matter whether they’re Democrat Republican or Independent. It’s time for us to kick them out of office when they continue to ignore their constituents and ignore the constitution and show lack of respect for this country. And I wonder all of the money that we borrowed from China that we give to other countries as foreign aid. Where is that money really going ? Who is going to pay that money back ? And where is the list of the countries that are receiving the money ? And how much money has each country received on a monthly basis for how many years. .? America better wake up or America will no longer exist very soon our president is out to destroy this country because he hates it he hates the Constitution and he ate everybody that stands for the constitution. People need to wake up and see what we have and act as if we do not have it and see how you will respond.

  158. Stick bogart December 13, 2014

Politicians are out to destroy the country they are only focused on financial gain for themselves. They don’t care about the American taxpayers. They don’t care about the constitution. They do not care about this country Once they get in the office they ignore their commitment. They just do not care. We should have term limits. We should have campaign limits as far as financial donations. All donations should be itemized and posted on the Internet for the constituents to see. And it also should be a lot easier to kick their butts out of office when they ignore the Constitution or ignore their constituents. It’s clear they are out to destroy the country at the taxpayers expense

The Politicians and that President , have to be the worst leaders in the world . They lie constantly , cheat and steal from Americans . For all of you that wanted this socialist piece of crap , well you got him. I cant believe the most recent broken promise and lies to our Military and their families . It is the worst thing yet that those Politicians and that President have done. Cutting Military benefits and retirement and the idiots announce this just before Christmas . By the way MERRY CHRISTMAS to all of you liberals . Put this picture in your mind and see if you would like it , A service member is deployed to a combat zone during Christmas , away from loved ones , doing his or her duty and trying to stay alive . And then you find out that your Government that sent you there will cut your benefits and retirement . Think of all of the deceased Veterans that believed what they were told , How can the Politicians sleep with them selves . Its just Horrible . But the President and his family can take a 4 million dollar vacation for Christmas in Hawaii . This a bunch of crap , I mean FUBAR ! My Thanks goes out to all of them for doing such a Horrible job . The only thing they are good at is lying. How about this , if you like your job today , you could keep your job next year , not with out votes. IDIOTS . AIRBORNE ALL THE WAY . We need a leader .

  165. KEVIN November 8, 2013

Obamacrap is the worst leader and liar in the world. To all Democrats Ha Ha he fooled you. Try and dig yourselves out of this one , IDIOTS. America , once Land Of The Free will soon be a Communist crap hole .

  166. JERRY SOESBEE April 29, 2013

How can the USA fight in Syria when we’re supporting Rebel insurgents consisting of the Taliban, Al Qaeda, and the MBH? If the USA became involved in Syria, they would be partnering with Al Qaeda, the Taliban, and the MBH. The USA would be fighting with terrorist groups against the Syrian government. Even if chemical weapons are used, Obama couldn’t respond.

This time supplying weapons and money to the so called Rebels has backfired in a very dangerous way. The USA getting involved in Syria would mean our soldiers allying with those that killed 3000 American citizens.

President Obama has placed Israel in a critical situation. Israel would have to secure the chemical weapons in Syria if that government falls. If the Rebels won the fight in Syria the chemical weapons become property of terrorist. This would mean the USA would have to fight against those they just supported. Obama has created a lose, lose situation in Syria. May be this is why Washington is not talking about Syria any longer.

  167. terry January 17, 2013

congrats on your win. i want to just say that if you vote for any kind of gun control except hitting your target,YOU will be voted out just as you were voted in by US. taking guns away from law abiding citizens is like giving criminals full control. you may as well place a sign in your yard saying we have no guns. how long do you think it would be before someone kicks in your door. even the anti assault rifles they will target first should not be banned. good luck mister cruz. you are the only win in nov that i was happy about. God bless you and good luck with saving this great country from the greenie weenie tree huggin liberal baby killin communist.

  169. Ruth Martin October 19, 2012

Lots of interesting and conflicting comments here, but isn’t it always so in politics? Whoever yells the loudest and is the most aggressive gets heard. Oh and I forgot to add: Whoever spends the most MONEY! It is so wrong that opinions and votes can be bought. (A huge waste of our country’s money which should be used to pay off some of it’s debt.) When I hear how much those running for offices spend for all kinds of traveling (and even a birthday party) it just doesn’t seem right!

  170. andrew carpenter October 4, 2012

Alot of people like Obama but if you ask them why they can’t come up with an answer, I think this “hollywood” approach of running the country will fad away soon enough!

  171. mmg4646 October 4, 2012

How can some people so ignorant?! You seriously believe Obama is a criminal? A piece of shit? An idiot? What the hell is wrong with you people?! People naturally look on things negatively. News is more interesting if it’s something bad that happened. When you take a test, it starts at a 100% and goes down from there, instead of earning those points. I’m not completely in support of Obama, but I like to look at what good he’s done. I’m tired of people saying bullshit about Obama and getting brainwashed by Rush Limbaugh and Fox News. How can the leader of the free world be a dumbass and a criminal? I may not agree with everything Obama does, I know he’s done a good job and is working as hard as he can to solve the issues at hand. He’s done a lot since he was elected. You may not like him, but please fucking respect him!!

  172. Marc October 2, 2012

I am eager to see the plan for the next few years, and especially for the short term.

Imagine the black panthers, dedicated to making america a black secular community, out ot a 10,000 bounty on a community watch victim who caught a drug dealer, burgler in the neighboorhood, the criminal 6 inches taller 17 years old attacker zimmerman, beating him to death, zimmerman did what was right to protect himself, saving the world a lot of money, ending the life of barry soretoes lookalike think alike son. The panthers go on national TV giving a 10,000 reward for zimmermanm declaring april 9th a day of retribution, and are not charged by holder or any other american lawyer or judge, who see a lot opf revenue from the upcoming confrontation, if it happens, and the kings destroy the panthers—probably the panthers, declawed, skinny like junkyard cats, cracked out, will probably spend the day in hiding

  175. Jackie Schwitters January 10, 2012

Mr. Obama is a big spender and doesn’t care about the American people. He is arrogant and has a great tendancy to blame others. The media is equally as bad~~FOX news included. It is all about the money and who has the power. I am very disillusioned with the whole lot~~we’re doomed to be led by people who really do not care about the solutions for the land of the free, the home of the brave.

President Obama is a historic leader, in the tradition of Lincoln, Kennedy and Franklin Roosevelt. He is facing controversy, hatred, racism and a power elite that is intransigent. Yet, he continues to show good will, a desire for progress, and a willingness to be flexible. His ideas are both simple and revolutionary. His is truly the President of the entire world. There would be Arab Spring were it not for the inspiration and support of this remarkable President. Of coarse, wherever the sun shines brightest, shadows are darkest. The greater the hero, the greater the emerging villain. And it is so very true with Obama. He has drawn truly evil enemies, both domestic and foreign, who in their anger and hatred have harmed the American people. But our President is a tireless warrior, representing the very best of what America has done.

I am so sick and tired of people bashing Obama….really!!!!!! Get over it!!!!! I am sick and tired of over one bitching about what he is or isnt doing!!!!!!! YOU all want to set back and bash everything this man has done or is trying to do……and you blame this countrys problems on him!!!!!! WE were in this shit hole of a mess before he took office!!! THANKS TO BUSH!!!! You bitch because he takes vacation!!!! Please do your reserch….BUSH took 977 days on vacation!!!!! That is 32% of his total time in office!!!! There has only been 2 presidents that have took less time then Obama during there 1st term!!!! Everybody wants to complian about what he does or doesnt do!!!!! Do you realize that really the president have no power at all!!!! That Congress in all reality holds the power!!!!!! Obama could come up with the most amazing plan….and Congress still has all the power to pass or not pass!!!! Instead of pointing fingers and insulting a man that tries everyday….why dont you look at the real problem….CONGRESS!!!!! CONGRESS CHOOSE TO PASS THE WALL STREET BALL OUT THAT STARTED THIS MESS!!!!!!! START BLAMING THE RIGHT PEOPLE…AND NOT A MAN THAT IS DOING THE BEST HE CAN WITH WHAT WAS HANDED TO HIM. YOU CAN’T EXPECT HIM TO FIX THE COUNTRY WHEN ALL THIS COUNTRY DOES IS POINT FINGERS AND NOT WANTING TO TAKE THE BLAME FOR ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!! HE HAS NO HELP FROM ANYONE!!!!!!

The Method to Lead the People to War
“Of course the people don’t want war. But after all, it’s the leaders of the country
who determine the policy, and it’s always a simple matter to drag the people
along whether it’s a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a
communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to
the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are
being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing
    the country to greater danger.”

I am truly disgusted at how the Republicans are treating OUR president! He is trying to help the American people. What’s wrong with that? Isn’t that what these politicians were voted for anyways, to help the people? what is so wrong with having corporations that make millions to billions of dollars pay taxes? It won’t hurt them! While everyone else pay taxes who can barely get by paycheck to paycheck.. that is just a** backwards! You politicians are for yourselves! This is just evil to have the poor get poorer and the rich get richer! They are already rich… come on now! I am embarrassed to be called an American! Who makes up this survey ratings? Apparently there is an error! I am very PROUD of our president and everyone I know is PROUD of him as well! A select few does not speak for an entire country! Obama keep up the good work!

Unless we end free trade and restore americas manufacturing infrastructure, placing import taxation on imports, making in america, what america consumes, while exporting to the world, discouraging slavery, our fufture as a consuming nation will soon be left out of the loop of leading manufacturing and science, mostly. Our jobs, companies, small business community accrued taxation model, unable to support our infrastructure leaves a country divided, between the haves and the never will haves. Before reagan removed import taxation our jobs were 35 % work by contract, now near 6 %, 80 % of domestic jobs pay near minium wage or below, we have lost our independence, while the world class mafia realm of billionaires has increased—end free trade, restore american independence—along with our jibs, and a chance to succeed in life, now absent for most.

lawyers/judges/politicians/lobbies for criminality currently rule us, virtual nobility, uninformed, yet making all our decisions, enacting hundreds of thousands of new laws;city, county, state, federal etc etc each year, prey upon us, as the quaility of life descends, like the myth of free trade, no lawyer is willing to end. They are destroying the military—making decisions on subjects lawyers have no information. destroying our country—, End the charade of politics, remove the czars and selected lords from office DECLARE ” marshall law “, fbi, cia, military etc etc can follow the constitution untill responsibility is restored to government

We can not get him and the rest of the Dumbocrats out of office and when we elect good solid conservative politicians into office we need to make sure we hold them accountable.. This ‘limited’ attack to ‘protect’ the citizens is so luke warm; get to the problem as this is the only chance we have to take out this criminal/murderer Ghadafi out of Libya. The state of the Union when Obama took office was the worst since the Great Depression. Two wars unfunded fell to his administration to fund. Finally an end to corporate welfare and a President for the people.

I live in the state of Alabama and for many months we have contacted the President by e-mail never a return recognition of the e-mails. He has failed to appoint a new US District Attorney to replace the corrupt attorney appointed by the Bush administration. This appointment is very important and Obama has been very neglegent in his responsibility to the people of this state. Hopefully he will rethink his responsibility and do his job.

  194. mike bernardo January 23, 2011

Obama is an intelligent charismatic law professor playing the role of commander in chief. I still believe his worst performance was the sppech he gave for the memorial service at the Fort Hood Army Base after the massacre in Nov 2009. A real commander in chief would have called the Army psychiatrist a terrorist and showed more emotion. Obama showed more emotion for a 98 yr old female civil right activist passing thatn the victims of the Ft Hood massacre.

America is the world, people who discuss color are biggots, the color of a persons skin is insignifant in the USA, the affirmative action laws, NAACP, black panthers, black muslim soft cells awaiting their chance to end america, have spawned extremist because of their acceptance of racism. And a real gangland exists in all innercities, most city governments, in these realms are criminal and corrupt themselves, turning a blind eye to satins deciples, and a host of crack-heroin-pot-speed cultures gangland who openly steal poor families young girls, and as a result have caused a backlash, like latin kings, RU, arian brotherhood, and a host of anti-black gangland entieties just to protect their families against the maurading black inner city gangs, who treat prison as an opportunity to further their connections, while qualifing for welfare, early social security scams, enabled by affirmative action, the new face of government, which has become criminal, from the president, to city counselmen, even some police are moles, with access to files of undercover agents, and avoidance tactics. The government under affirmative action no longer serves america, a multinational country.

Obama and czars are destroying americas ability to protect ourselves against the other anti-american countries pretending to be our friends, while building massive military forces using our money they get from the myth of free trade. Its almost unbelievable the senate and house permit the vast criminality going on, electionfraud unprosecuted, instead awarded billions, privatizing lowearth orbit launches, to the draft dodger musk a common bankruptcy expert, who would not be in business were it not for obama, taking away lowearth orbit military platform launches from NASA, ending Shuttle 2, Constellation, Aries, etc etc, putting F-35 on hold, while china builds stealth mig’s and diesel electric subs, carrier killers, lowearth orbit domination, obama/gates/panetta/clinton,claims to support military while dismantling us, and START, which disarms us, commiting sodomy on the US Military, real attempts to disrupt and end us—this man, his laws, czars, appointments should all be recalled, and he should be impeached, before civil war erupts, or we become so weakened our enemies successfully end america

In spite of continual efforts by the Republicans in the Senate to block him, he has made major strides. And in the last couple of weeks of Session, he even managed to inject a spine into Harry Reid! He has the potential to be a truly great president, and his ability to out-maneuver the enemy party is his strong suit.
It will be harder now, with the foolish choices some voters made in November '010. But he is up to the task. I hope he can hold Harry Reid to a high enough standard in the Senate, and can find ways to outmaneuver the bad guys in the House. Time will tell.

  200. Pking49 December 26, 2010

He's doing the best he can do under awful circumstances. He inherited two wars ineptly engaged and fought with no clear military agenda. I get why he didn't just stop them both, but that, however hard the pill is to swallow for the military families, would have been the most intelligent thing to do. He needs to break with the past and get out of this deficit dug by the previous administration. It may already be too late for him to resolve this. I have never envied Barack Obama.

You are very long winded. But we have turned into a nation of everyone owes me I don't need to work cause the governement will take care of me. I don't need to spend money wisely cause the government will take care of me. We have so many able bodied people that milk the system that it drags us all down, and Yes I do have experience in this I own rental properties and see it all the time in peoples attitudes and its sickening.

  206. true american October 7, 2010

We the People are the ones that need to dig ourselves out of this hole.

  207. true american October 7, 2010

Maybe you should accept the facts. Lets do some math now…

We will use examples that may actually happen in your own little world.

You buy a house for 250000 with a 5% interest on a 30 year loan you will actually be spending 483,139.46. Now lets take those same numbers and figure them into the national debt. So why are you in favor of spending money that we dont have. Oh thats right you won't have to pay it. Oh but maybe you will because when businesses get taxed higher they raise prices, and who does that effect all the little peasants. The only way to Make it fair is to educate people on money and economics. The people that are to stupid to care well they can live in there crap holes that our esteemed government provides for them. Oh and anyone out there that truelly can't care for themselves I will help you out of the goodness of my heart.

  208. true american October 7, 2010

Why should I pay for someones incompetence hmmm. Should I buy the 200000 house and the 50000 car or should I buy the 100000 house and the 10000 car. Which one would make more sense if you don't have health insurance but would like it. Now here is the tricky part your budget only allows for one or the other. Health Insurance or a nicer car and house.

So maybe we should educate people on what there prioities should be. Now there is an idea!!!

  209. true american October 7, 2010

Where are you getting your numbers? Besides the bottom line is no matter who is doing it the spending has got to stop.

We are in this recession because people were spending more than they made because they were stupid, but its hard to tell people not to when there own government is doing it also. Would you rather pay interest to china and the middle east, or just keep the money that you earn.

  210. Real American October 7, 2010

Do you really think Obama cares about you? If you dont like big business build your own and compete against them. Stop being a little chicken #$%^. Change the way big business works by becoming one of them and showing how it should be done.

  211. True American October 7, 2010

The WAR seriously! Maybe the new healthcare plan that cost just as much as the war.

When you guys are all poor and relying on the government you can think back to Obama. Me on the other hand MY future is in my hands not the governments. I know how to take care of myself.

  212. Kia8720355 August 24, 2010

Worst President to date. His policies are amid at destroying the american way of life and to make sure that he leaves the office with a large amount of money. I see no change or hope with this guy. All I see is a man that states that we need to act responsible and in turn spends so much money on his useless programs and expensive life style all the back of the American tax payers. I feel he is the last that should make a speech referring to going into the reverse with voting for republicans when the democratic party have not accomplished one thing but put the economy in larger deficit. The man is just a community organizer that favors redistribution of wealth. But what else can we inspect from a party that feels that they want to tax the rich to death and the middle class to death while they grow the size of the government and use the poor to promote there own social wealth. We need a change that will promote allowing america to regain our values and job.

It's plain to see that you are justacarp. Anyone who would publicly support the socialistic policies of Obama is in for a rude awakening in November. Even the original Obama supporters are on to him. The rest of the Democrats are going to pay the price for his anti-American, anti-capitalism policies. This country needs to be rejuvenated with some forward thinking politicians who don't want to “fundamentally transform America”. We need to get back to our core values and elect politicians who support the constitution and Bill of Rights. Obanma hasn't kept one campaign promise. He can't talk about any achievements since he took office, since there aren't any. Bashing Bush dosn't do it any more. The Democrats have run Congress for 3-1/2 years, and now they need to take responsibility for their ineptness. The people are going to change things this November. No need to bash Obama, he does that well enough himself.

  215. justacarp August 4, 2010

“Deeply concerned”, on what planet are you writing from? the parade of fools started with the lies of Ronald Regan your crowned prince, he Hitler, and Stallen share a spot in h—. The deregulation of the banks, the fake promise of lower taxes, and all the folly, falsehoods, and spinning, of the republican party is coming back to haunt !! All the workers who lost their pensions, and all the crocks who got rich, in dirty double deals in take overs should be prosecuted, let's not forget Keating, Worldcom, Tyco, just a few unregulated activity that cost the taxpayers and stock holders, trillions. Until last year we seemed to sail past these and many other unsavory transactions, but the greed has finally caught up to the breeders, and now threatens our economy. Let's all pray that the greed of a few, doesn't cause a collapse of modern society, and or possibly the world!!

  216. justacarp August 3, 2010

Who's legacy is the war, BUSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Vote for the Reformers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is this Russia? who cares! We need to take care of Our business and country. Comparing “US” to any other country is what has caused this mess This Is America, NOT Russia. We Are Americans, and we should think like “united Americans”, and not let the world powers split us!

  218. justacarp August 3, 2010

Interesting fact, the US / EPA, has rules for oil / gas spills. If you or I spill a gallon of gas on our lawn, and the authorities are alerted, the fine is about 50$ per gallon, not to mention the removal and disposal of contaminated soil, probably triple that amount. Total for one gallon of gas 200$.
The question is, will EPA enforce the rules, and fine BP? Some analysts say fines could be a minimum 4 Billion dollars!! BP has claimed they will pay to clean up this colossal catastrophe, I think they may pay clean up cost, but their lawyers will fight to lessen the fines, and will probably prevail.
There is one simple fact that BP has overlooked, THEY DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH MONEY, to pay for clean up and fines. This will be the test. Do we as a people stand up for our rights, and stop bowing to big business, or will we as we have done before, go on as if it’s all good, and no bother? This is high noon, the gun fight is on! If we let them (BP, big business) trample us, our value of life will be trampled also. Do not let anyone politicize this issue. Keep your eyes, on the prize, Reform. Reform, is what this country needs. We the People own this country, Not big business, we chose who we buy from or do business with. It’s high time, we do our business. Vote for Reform. Elect or re-elect the Reformers, send the rest packing! If you believe in Reganism and trickle down economics, then You have just been trickled on! Send John Bonner and his cohorts HOME!

Obama scares me to the point of throwing up, and make me consider hanging out with militia groups in Montana. Obama is beyond Bush, beyond pathetic embarrassment, somebody needs to drop a brick on Obama's head, this politician does not know where his ass is, or his agenda is to destroy and desimate this country.
Obama will have a beauraucratic legacy to his credit, he has added over 100,000 jobs to government, jobs paying six figure salaries since he has taken office, he has created over 4 trillion dollars in unfunded liabilities in his seventeen month tenure. 227. Mortimer Snerd May 23, 2010

Total federal debt to date: ~11 trillion [Reagan and Bush Sr.'s contribution (~4 trillion); Clinton >1 trillion; Bush II (~5 trillion). Obama (maybe 1 trillion–much of it emergency spending in order to prevent a systemic economic collapse but also to equitably begin to reinvest in programs that will rebuild this country rather than mostly ingratiate corporations, build fruitless weapons, and subsidize those robbing and deceiving us on a daily basis (the Republican Platform in a nutshell]”! Would that Obama would chart a course nearly opposite and strongly critical of his corporate huckstering predecessors! Go, Barack, reign in corporate greed, excess, and dysfunctional license. Did Obama create the regulatory climate whereby banks turned into self-pumped gambling casinos? Or was that his predecessor? Your brain could benefit from some serious self-examination and your emotions from near term anger management training. What do you say, Zoey?

  228. Christopher May 23, 2010

Thanks for referring to this unlikely legislative win! From the p.o.v. of someone doing something to write historic deficiencies, it is noteworthy. We must not let the vast chasm between dysfunctional medicine and a real health care system infuse us with too much ire and deter us from trying to actual get something healthy into a national sick care and pharmaceutical profiteering system that in no way, shape, or form could be called 'healthy'. Wealthy yes, healthy no! But the Democrats and Obama included said in the same breath with their relief at passage of this major legislative that it is just a start and that we need to revisit it and do many more needed reforms to get to where we need to be. So we must all plug ahead and try to keep positive change going, especially against the militant hyena-like calls of psychologically unbalanced and immature Republican prima donnas who seem to revel in being jackasses (backwards Democrats?). Best to tie up such animal influences and refer back to the more noble and intelligent human spirit which Barack represents on a periodic basis! Don't look too much at him but what we individually and in other natural groups can do–he certainly can not do more than we can do collectively! Yes, collectively (that horrible socialist word). It's may be a scary word to some–but it just means 'together', as in 'a whole body' (not so scary). Conservatives would do well to buy dictionaries and use them at least once a week or more often..

The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of
entrusting a man like him with the presidency. It will be easier to
limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the
necessary common sense and good judgment to an electorate willing to
have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and
far more serious than Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails
us. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the
vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The republic can
survive a Barack Obama. It is less likely to survive a multitude of
fools such as those who made him their president.”

  233. Douglas Morrison March 23, 2010

To get something done, you must at least try SOMETHING! Party politics has limited accomplishment of ANYTHING! I have no problem with the heathcare bill. The intentions of the bill are grounded by excellent intentions. What overall effect it will have after opponents figure ways to make it not succeed???? I applaud the president and congress for actually seeing a problem and passing a bill to address it. Is this bill going to succeed? Honestly, all I care about is that someone has done something, not just add to a wish list. Just do me a favor and if the bill isn’t working, stand up and say so! Then work together to fix it or scrap it and try again. Whatever happens, please keep trying to actually DO something, anything, or we will continue to be a nation of ineffective political will and diminished direction.

  234. Ken February 25, 2010

America owes mr Obama a debt of gratitude….I am serious….we ALL have become very complacent, didn’t pay much attention to details of our politicians, elected a president with NO credentials, listened to the never failing and inaccurate news from the one sided News Media, and just forgot to use our own minds, think for ourselves, and forgot the unchanging value of the Constitution. Obama showed us in one short year just how important CONSTANT vigilance for our liberties is. Obama showed us how easily any politician can lie over and over, and Congress showed us how they do what THEY want to do, not representatives of our will. This is the BEST lesson we as Americans could ever ask for…..our economy is not better, there are NO jobs, the banks did not need a bail out…..GM and Chrysler were bailed ONLY to buy votes, the super majority of Americans DO NOT want this government health care bill, housing foreclosures continue at an alarming rate, new housing starts are at an all time low, congress approval ratings are at an all time low, the president’s approval rate is at an all time low…..but still Obama and Congress continue to battle, cheat, lie and scew facts for the sake of ONLY their Health Care Bill ! America has awakened….the Japaneese feared awakening the “sleeping giant” in WWII….they were intelligent enough to fear the consiquences…..the politicians in Washington are not that intelligent….Thank you mr Obama…..we needed a kick in the butt…but now, the awakened giant will kick back….and all of Washington will feel it. Thank you mr Obama….the only thanks you deserve.

This country will go broke becuase of Obamas ‘wild wild west’ spending and putting us into more debt day after day! Does he not see what he’s doing to the ‘little’ people, crippling us financially, taking away our freedom and robbing us of our self esteem! Can anyone stop this man, he’s an insane liberal elitist and really dont give a damm about the foolish people who elected him! He is a disaster to us all.

  237. Olivia February 24, 2010

He wants to go down in history as the PResident who was able to pass healthcare reform when previous presidents could not do it!! He and Pelosi & Reid, are the three most dangerous people in America! They are ruining our country, I truly worry what America will be like for my children and grandchildren, its too sad to think about. WE are so helpless!

Well, he is tough on our own Military men and women….and, ah, he really likes Muslams…that’s cool….and he admits that his dad was a British subject when he was born….and even though that makes HIM a British subject and NOT a natural born citizen qualified to be President….but what the heck…..Constitution be damned…right. I know, I got one, he just ordered banks to make more subprime loans, even though that is what got us in this mess, and there is the perfect medical health care bill that HE was able to create in only 4 short months…..well, it does have some flaws, but it will only affect EVERYONE in this nation for generations, so why take the time necessary to really come up with a really good one?

Simply put, he is the WORST “president” in the history of the United States !!! The people he surrounds himself with are disgracefull. His attacks against EVERY person who disagrees with him seems more like that of Hitler. And what’s with all the media who just BOW DOWN his evil agenda, and everything he stands for. Fox News is the ONLY element of the media that refuses to kiss his feet ! And I thank them for maintaining the responsibility and integrity that journalism is supposed to represent. Without them, journalism would be dead in America.

I just wish I could understand how a man born in Kenya could possibly be elected to the “presidency” of the USA. With this in mind, everything he’s done since Jan. 20, 2009, will hopefully become NULL AND VOID. January 10, 2010, may indeed be his “Waterloo”.

Furthermore, what happened to his “transparency” of government ? Upon further consideration, perhaps that is the ONLY campain promise he kept. He’s transparent alright. You “CAN SEE RIGHT THROUGH HIM”. Then there’s the issue that there will be no lobbyists from the insurance and health care industry in his “administration”. Well it seems that these same lobbyists are the very core of his “advisors”.

First Lady Requires More Than Twenty Attendants

    Dr. Paul L. Williams

“In my own life, in my own small way, I have tried to give back to this country that has given me so much,” she said. “See, that’s why I left a job at a big law firm for a career in public service, ” Michelle Obama

No, Michele Obama does not get paid to serve as the First Lady and she doesn’t perform any official duties. But this hasn’t deterred her from hiring an unprecedented number of staffers to cater to her every whim and to satisfy her every request in the midst of the Great Recession. Just think Mary Lincoln was taken to task for purchasing china for the White House during the Civil War. And Mamie Eisenhower had to shell out the salary for her personal secretary.

How things have changed! If you’re one of the tens of millions of Americans facing certain destitution, earning less than subsistence wages stocking the shelves at Wal-Mart or serving up McDonald cheeseburgers, prepare to scream and then come to realize that the benefit package for these servants of Miz Michelle are the same as members of the national security and defense departments and the bill for these assorted lackeys is paid by John Q. Public:

    1. $172,2000 – Sher, Susan (Chief Of Staff)
    2. $140,000 – Frye, Jocelyn C. (Deputy Assistant to the President and Director of Policy And Projects For The First Lady)
    3. $113,000 – Rogers, Desiree G. (Special Assistant to the President and White House Social Secretary)

They have seen through our thin veil, right to the heart of the matter….that we don’t want to help people. We just don’t care about anyone except our own greedy beating hearts. Spoken like a true dependent. You will never set free the possibilities of others because you are too busy limiting them, “helping” them, and letting them know that it’s OK, big brother is here to help. What you don’t tell them is the cost of the “free” help with loss of freedom, opportunity, soul, and spirit. Live free or die once meant something in this country, and it should again. I don’t like Obama not because he is black or a minority, I don’t like him because of where he stands on the issues. He is a ultra-liberal politican who came to power promising CHANGE, and never delivered. He spends our tax dollars faster than the Treasury can print money. He appoints CZARs who have the most tainted backgrounds and beliefs. He can’t speak without a teleprompter in front of him, and he wants government to be the solution for everything. Heck, I bet he has never read the heatlhcare or cap and trade bills, yet he unknowingly support them 100%. He says he is responsible to get healthcare right, but in fact, he will not be. When our healthcare cost go up due to the fees and mandates by the federal government, and we all end up with government run healthcare, will be personally take responsibility for all the people who will suffer and die going through US Healthcare? My mother and mother-in-law both died because of Massachusetts Healthcare constraints. We tried to bring them to Nebraska for better treatment, yet Mass denied them, stating they would have to pay for the treatments themselves. Both died of goverment neglect.

That’s right, I don’t hate Obama because he is black, I hate him because he is stupid and dangerous to the US.

We must get Obama out of Office. I believe we all can since he is not a born American Citizen. Yes he showed a certificate of birth, but that only says he was born. He has not shown a Birth Certificate statine where and doctor etc. Hawaii was probably paid to give him a certificate of birth. He was NOT born in Hawaii, nor has he shown his credentials of education. He refused to show his transcript probably because he either has none or they are bad, or forged. Obama is a phony. We must de-elect him. Obama was born in Kenya when his mother was too young to come to the US plus too pregnant for the flight. He was not born here, which is reason we should not have abide by his leadership. WE MUST GET HIM OUT OF OFFICE!!!!!! HE IS NAZI, ANOTHER HITLER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WE MUST FIGHT!!!!!!!!!

The only reason why he wants to pass these health care bill is to protect the future interest of the democratic party, In other words giving care to the illegals will buy votes so they can say in power. Look at social security, its broke and mismanaged. Medicare, its broke. What program has worked. There is to much greed in washington. Let Ted Kennedy be the test rat for this new program…

Many years ago in history there was a leader who was popular with a small following . He later became the leader of his nation , took over the banks and financial institutions. He also called for a group of loyal patriots to be his private army. He then proceeded to take over all the major industries. He then made the country rely on him for everything like health care. Sounds a lot like Obama. That man was Adolf Hitler

  261. Greg July 15, 2009

I was reading these comments just now, and I realized that at first there was no negative comments, then a few, and now all are negative. Hmm. I wonder why that is? Maybe it’s because of huge tax hikes like cap and trade, the sheer cost of healthcare that will leave some americans still un-insured, or meddling with economy, or the bailouts and stimulus, which I believe are both payoffs to the unions and others that helped get him into office.

Anyone who is a realist knows that politics relies on a you scratch my back-I scratch yours, system. Obama pretended to be above that, but when it costs 18 million to redesign recovery.gov, and the house majority leader had thousands donated to his campaign by the same company that DOES NOT LIST WEB DESIGN AS ONE OF THEIR SERVICES

  262. Pedro July 14, 2009

It is too late, we are now a communist country. Obama already controls the banks. This country runs on money, he who contros the money is in control. He now wants to controll our health care, I wonder why it is that Canadians, come to our country for health care, when goverment health care is so good. Obama has made it clear that he feels that it is our foult that terorist attack us, not the terrorist foult. I gues we sould have moved the towers so that they would not hit them. He fills that we are the bad guys, and the terrorist are the victoms. WE ARE IN TROUBLE, WITH A LEASER LIKE THIS!!!!!

  265. marg July 5, 2009

Why does everything have to be done yesterday. No time to see or read or understand; just do! That does not work. There is no transparency and not every single action your administration wants has to be put into action without a plan. It started with mortgage bailout that helped the banks but became the newest scam for the people who needed your help most. You are failing us one by one; action by action. Look before you leap – it is a long way down to a hole that you may never get out of.

  266. Johnny July 2, 2009

I never thought someone would make Bush look good, but Obama has accomplished this in 6 months.

  267. Erica June 18, 2009

When he was elected into office, I hoped that he would be a good president and make the “change” for the positive. We all know that there needed to be change in the United States but I never thought his change was to have the government control our country in every aspect. I think that it is time for the “average Joe” to run for president. We need to do away with the high society, never lived in the reall world people and have someone that knows what the world is like by experiance.

  268. randy probasco May 6, 2009

obama seemed concerned when a reporter asked if he were a socialist. He may need to re-evaluate his actions and look up the definition of a socialist as he is clearly leaning in that direction. I think he will cause severe irreversible harm to this country with his “change”. the people elected him for a change, not to change our way of life and/or government. he has misread the voters and will most likely be a one term president. that is unless, acorn is allowed to continue on its voter fraud.

I think the country will see Obama’s Presidency as a huge mistake through the lens of time. He is going to break the back of this country, both financially and as an economic system as he moves into a European Socialistic model. It will have grave consequences and destroy the fabric of America’s historical success. Unfortunately, I think most of America is unsuspecting until it becomes too late.

A reciept from the waldorf signed by Michele Obama surfaced recently and it was 400 bucks for an afternoon snack! meanwhile thousands of children die daily from poverty..

Sorry if this is long winded, but I KNOW that it would NEVER occur to me whatever my financial situation to spend almost $500 on a snack! People are not what they seem, whether Republicans or Democrats their ambitions aspire to MORE POWER – MORE GREED!

I feel the sadness of the world and the poverty-stricken conditons that so many live in. I can relate so very well, we grew up POOR – many times we went without food, walked barefoot for miles in the hot burning sun, come rain or shine my mom made us go. Many mornings we barely had enough to eat – I remember days when I would hide from my classmates during lunch, because I hadn’t any. I used to be embarrassed by my story – but not anymore. I realize it prepared us for life and the opportunites and the trials that as adults we faced. We had no Dad to provide for us, and when he was around he was drunk and abusive. I don’t ever remember going to a private doctor growing up. Mom made the bush tea, lanced our boils and sent us on our “merry” way. If we absolutely had too it was to the public clinic- no need to go into the kind of care we got there.
Now we all could do our part, I humbly submit that the 10 percent of our income that we give our Church for Humanitarin efforts around the world does help me to sleep better at night. Once a month we are asked to give up two meals and donate that money to the poor and homeless in our community. I would like to do so much more if we could, right within our own families there are those who are struggling – I truly believe that charity begins at home also. I believe the experiences we had as children and teenagers growing up with so little helped us to be truly grateful for all that we have. I believe ( and I speak for most of my siblings) that we feel more deeply and compassionately for those in need. So, my story could be anyone of those 30,000 children who are starving now, there is so much more, I know that when I read “Angela’s Ashes” so much of it was deja vu.

60% or more in payroll/income tax
25% or more in sales taxes
    $10 per gallon of gasoline
Your Healthcare decided by a bureaucrat instead of a Doctor

In other words; “USA” is now becoming “New Denmark”

I hope you will vote all the dump Democrats out of congress so Mr. Obama’s agenda can be stopped.
Unfortunately he and his comrades now have two years where they can destroy the “American Way” of life.

Obama is a slick as oil or oh so smooth! You can tell that he is so evasive is his answers, because he is a suave orator he could lie his way thru and convince people to believe what he says, he is a typical car salesman! While MCCain is no cup of tea either, it is really troubling that we will have an Obama administration………Look at how he answers ‘Joe the plumber’ question, Joe has worked his ass off and for Obama to tell him that he wants to take Joe’s success by taxing him more to give to those who doesnt even pay taxes! For all you young Liberals who are voting for Obama, you really dont understand his entire policy, you are captured by Obama as he is young, attractive, a celebrity status in Hollywood, he is fluent and talks a good talk and has ran a very good campaign, too bad Hillary isnt representing the Dems instead or even Joe Biden as the Prez nominee!

it is amazing that white people are racist enough to feel guilty to vote for a guy because he is black. never mind his racist friends, land deals that will cost us now for a bail out, slashes to the military, return to communist Russia, hiding his pot smoking and drug dealings during his time at columbia. none of that matters. pay no attention to what he has done. pay no attention to his friends. pay no attention to his votes. pay no attention to his thoughts about becoming a socialist society. none of that matters. hell, why not vote my dog into office. he has less dirt on him than obama. all you losers want to hear about “equal opportunity”. Well, how about doing just that. put on the blinders and look at both of these guys without color. if john mccain was black, would you vote for him? if obama was white would you vote for him? i am an equal opportunity ass hole. i hate all of them, equally. when a guy speaks and has more “uh” and “um” than content, i have to worry about his brain functions. i believe he has something wrong and should release his medical records. how about his transcripts. how about explaining in something other than a long winded lawyer speak drivil about his cocain use. again, we have a dope head wanting the national security codes. that crap happened in the 90’s. do you want another “page” stain on a dress? this guy has never made a tough decision except how will i destroy the other guy today. how about something that shows some character. sorry, forgot i was talking about a lawyer. knowing that he only lies when his lips move escaped me there for a second. what about you hippies that like him because he is “fresh” and “new”. have you blinded yourself to the fact that he earns enough money in one year to keep you in dope for a lifetime. he is the corporation. he is the man. he is the one you hate. he is the rich bastard that keeps you down. what about you on the south side. are you safer now because of this organizationizer. is crime down, are drug dealers fewer, are you able to walk the streets easier. what did he do to make you safer in your home. take off the black/white glasses and look around. new york and los angeles does not constitute the country as a whole. the world “hates” us because of you freaks on the coast that are more concerned about what the government will do for you than what you can do for your own fellow man. your overindulgences into sex and drugs, your grasps for power, your inability to understand self reliance; these are the things that the rest of the world hates. it is what they see on tv and in print. you continue to be concerned about what a homosexual feels about what color is on your walls of the house. no wonder they look at us this way. of all the people from other countries that get past the crap of the east/west coast and see the middle of this country, they walk away with an appreciation of this country. they call you east/west coasters “freaks”. rightly so. there are things that are foreign to you that i will cover quickly: honor, integrity, self reliance, loyalty, dignity. i know these are strange and unspoken words for you. don’t try them all at once. you will explode. just take it a day at a time. now, go ahead and vote for who you “feel” better about. or, take some time and use that grey matter that keeps your ears from touching and consider that obama is not for blacks. he is for the same white good ol boy system.

  287. Tim September 19, 2008

i HEAR YOU Patriotic mom but I also agree with Zoey I need to hear what Obama has to say about the economy. I need a clear and concise plan of how he is going to dig us out of this hole!

  288. Zoey September 15, 2008

Ok Obama if you are so smart, you would be not so vague in your responses, please give us crystal clear answers and what you are going to do about the economy, the terror on war & illegal immigration,& the housing crisis. If you have a better and more clear and realistic plan than McCain, then lets hear it for petes sake!

  289. PatrioticMom September 4, 2008

I have a lot of theories about a lot of things… I have been accused of being long winded, and have sometimes suffer from foot in mouth disease. But the thing about me is that I feel that I look at the world clearly, and see it for what it is, and most people look at it only from their own narrow perspective. I tell it like it is, some people like it, and some people don’t.

I think it is sad what America has become lately. It seems that lately… Republicans fall into two categories… Dumb followers (hear me out)… and big money corporate snobs.

I don’t believe that is what the Republican Party is meant to be, but it is certainly what it has become.

The dumb, blind followers are the people I describe as living in the middle (middle of nowhere most of the time), but what I mean is the middle of our country. They are for the most part blue collar workers, many of which are having problems now with employment, due to the nature of our current economy, and due to the changes that the world is undergoing now in terms of globalization, computers, progress and growth. Many have complaints about healthcare, complaints about taxes, complaints about jobs… and yet these are the same people that put Bush in the WhiteHouse TWICE!!! And many of the problems they face are directly related to the Bush administrations failure to move AMerica forward. They are bible thumpers, who believe what they believe, and listen to nothing else. THey have an extremely narrow life experience, most never leaving the small area where they grew up, they resist change… and they have long lines of Republicans in their families… they have been taught what they have been taught… and they blindly follow like dumb little soldiers. They take politics very seriously (to their credit). The ALWAYS vote, and they ALWAYS vote Republican…. right down the line… cause, that’s just how tis y’all.

THis group that I describe in the above paragraph hate Obama for lots of reasons. He’s black (God help us, get out the chain for the back of your pick up truck), they are out of touch with the kind of person he is (from a mixed backround, self made man, highly educated, forward thinker). They are afraid of what he represents. Which is what bigotry really is… Hate is FEAR… fear of the unknown, fear of cultures that are different from your own (which is WHY these people have no desire to visit other lands, experience other cultures, they see them as backward barbarians…. even though it is from these other cultures that America has evolved… but they are generations out of touch with that, because they are out of touch, literally, as I outlined earlier). They are using these fears to spread these crazy Muslim rumors (among others)… which I agree with the previous postings… even if he were a Muslim (which he so happens NOT to be…) but if he were… so what? But to these people, goin’ out back to shoot some bottles off the back fence, is their idea of a good ole time… and these people are largely in control of our elected officials.. and this really scares me.

Now I explain the second group, the big money corporate snobs. Now, these people are Republican for a different set of reasons. THey would have you believe that Democrats are big government, fiscally loose, bleeding heart liberal, spenders. That can only harm this country, not help it. This is a JOKE. If you look a the way Republicans have SPENT our money in the last 8 years, and have turned our record Surplus into debt, and the support of the WORLD (after Sept. 11th) into HATRED…. It has never happened in the history of this nation, that in such a short amount of time (only 8 years) our country has taken such a sharp turn downward. Never before has world opinion about the U.S. been so low, never before has our economy changed for the worse so sharply, and never before has a sitting President ever been hated (both domestically and abroad) so much.

These corporate snobs( as I call them) would have you believe that Obama as President (or any Democrat) hurts this country. They would have you believe that He will raise our taxes, to pour money into bleeding heart social programs, so that wetback spanish kids can go to Harvard…. and my friends… that’s just not so. But people like this ALSO have a lot of power (because they run all of the corporations that support this nations economy), they ALSO have traditionally always voted Republican, and the ALSO are unwilling to listen to what OBAMA IS REALLY SAYING!

Obama appeals to people because he is looking at the US from different eyes. Not through the eyes of someone that has a personal agenda (Hillary, George Bush finishing the legacy of his father and trying to create his own legacy), but as someone that sees our nations clearly. Sees the waning image of America through the world’s eyes clearly, and sees this as his opportunity to make things better. To return America to the beacon of prosperity and progress that it used to be.

Obama recognizes, and fully admits, that the changes that need to be made like Reforming Healthcare, and Developing new forms of Energy, and Improving Education so that we can compete with the world again TAKES MONEY !!!!!! Someone has to pay for these changes, the money has to come from somewhere. And the Republicans never mention this at all.

Obama believes, as I do, that we are one nation, and we are ALL collectively responsible for it’s welfare, and it’s upkeep. And in fact these are the basic principals that this nation was built on. I fall into the same group (financially) as these corporate snobs. I fall into that top tier percentage who’s minor tax increase will help pay for many of the programs that need to be reformed to move America forward. But unlike these Republican fools. I recognize that it is my responsibilty to do what I can for our nation, and that my money will not (or at least shouldn’t be) squandered. I also recongnize that these nickels and dimes do not, at all, interfere with my quality of life.

I am lucky to live where I do. Nowhere else in the world can a person own a parcel of land as large as mine (mind you I live on less than 1/2 acre). But in other nations… including very rich nations like France, Norway, Germany, Italy etc. People of my income live in apartments…. and that’s just how it is. There just isn’t enough land to go around. People in the middle of this country are CERTAINLY out of touch with that… spoiled as they are on their sprawling ranches that have been in their families for generations. Nowhere else does a person have the ability to come from nothing, and turn themselves into something. To start a small business, with an idea in their head.. and become Microsoft, or Google. The fact that The United States has allowed me to live the way I do, enjoy the freedoms that I have, earn a decent wage, and own my little parcel of paradise… I RECOGNIZE that it is MY RESPONSIBILTY to give back. It’s basically the “pay it forward” belief. ANd no one in politics has ever represented this model better than Obama.

It is not about pretty words and sweeping speeches. It is true that we many times choose leaders on their ability to capture us with their captivating public performances (Clinton, Kennedy, Reagan, Martin Luther King) Although surely Bush is not an example of this.. don’t even get me started. Bush is just a dumb bum son of a rich guy,(who happened to be president.)and who’s daddy bought him his education, his station in society.. and somehow weaseled his way into the most important job in the world. Appealing to the Bible Thumpers (of course), and the Corporate snobs alike. He was in many ways like their own rich children.

Obama knows that America is just a PARCEL of the world, and in order to truly be powerful, we have to understand the agendas and the needs of other nations. ANd leading by example is the way to gain peoples respect. Not by squishing them down. You don’t bash someone over the head and say “I have the money, and I am the big dog here, so you guys just have to live the way we say you should live, and agree with the policies that WE SAY you should agree with, and since we have the power and you don’t, that’s just how it’s gonna be”

It is that attitude over that last sevral years that has isolated from our neighbors. Canada, England and Australia included… The reason the United States has such power to begin with is becuase we have always LED BY EXAMPLE. Other nations like Germany, England, France… have watched us grow and prosper, and indeed many nations throughout the world have adopted ouir way of governing, and have come around to Americas progressive way of thinking. Americans have always been known as the “give us your tired, your hungry, your poor” “do not disciminate do to sex, color or religion” Only recently have other nations begun to accept this way of thinking (slowly) And now… it seems as though our country is SLIDING BACKWARDS. Obama is the man to move us forward again.

We are a nation of immigrants, always have been… and over the last several years, our Goverments tactless spending, and failure to turn their attention to the overwhelming pouing in of illegal immigrants from the south… has caused a balance problem. And due to this recent large influx of immigrants to the South…. many Americans view immigrants, in general, as Spic criminals. And this is a very distorted and bigoted way of thinking. Indeed we STILL have immigrants from all over the world…. It’s just that the people in the middle never see them. And if they happen to see a Chinese person by accident… they’d silently pray for God to recognize the error of their heathon ways.. and if they saw a Persian in a turban… they’d run in fear.

The fact is that it is the current administration that is largely to blame for our current immigration imbalance. And instead of saying “get the hell out” and “learn English” and all that CRAP… how about we do something about it. How about we recognize that the people we have here now are HERE. and that’s that. Lets DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE PROBLEM. Lets make changes to the system to address the newer problems with immigration in recent decades. Lets address how to educate these masses, give them the tools to turn themselve into productive AMericans.. which lets face it…. is what they came here for. It’s not THEIR FAULT… it’s ours. How about we support Mexico, and help them reform their corrupt governtment, so that so many people there, don’t feel that they HAVE to come here to put food on the table. How about we enforce our current immigration laws, instead of just hoping that fleeing foreigners nicely respect our borders, and don’t take that walk across the line. YOu don’t see Canadians pouring in… why do you suppose that is?

We have the problems that we have! It’s time to stop denying them (global warming, or dependence on oil, imbalanced immigration, collapsing housing market, job losses, poor world opinion) How ABOUT WE DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! ??? There’s a concept.

Obama approaches all of these problems in a different way. INdeed, many of HIllary’s policies (and other Democrats’ ) are similar. But it is Obama’s unique approach that makes him different. His abiltiy to listen and reach out. His ability to recognize that the problems exist, take them on… and come up with ideas and solutions on how to pay for the changes that need to take place. And the fact that he is able to communicate his ideas so clearly…. is indeed… just icing on the cake. He is not all fluff and no substance. Obama is all substance, with the gift of GAB… well HOORAY for us! Finally! Light at the end of the tunnel.

I am not such an idealist that I think he can single handedly solve all of our problems. But I KNOW that he’ll try, and he’ll take them on.. one at a time. Indeed most presidential legacys are defined long after they have left office. Someone has to START the process.

Let’s give him four years… that’s all it is! If we feel he’s doing the job, we can give him four more. That’s what’s so great about this nation! One man does not run a nation, it’s a group of people that run the administration (certainly this is true of Bush as well, because he’s dumb as a rock, so certainly their are others turning many of the wheels). But the figure head that is in charge (the President) is indeed the face of our nation. And that FACE ALONE is very important. The fact that Obama is so Revered all over the world… IS A GOOD THING….!!! The world is breathing a sigh of relief. They are thinking “finally America has come to it’s senses”. That’s why millions of people line up to hear Obama speak. The world is still rooting for us.. but not for long. It is up to us to turn it around.

What we have been given here in this nation, can easily be taken away. WE are not an island, we are part of the world. We need to get back on track before it’s too late. MC Cain is benign… and indeed the best candidate that the Republicans could have put forward. But his policies are still stuck in the past, and from the world perspective, it would be “more fo the same” and indeed a step BACKWARD. Where what America needs is a step forward.

I’m lucky. I drive a beautiful convertible, have a pool in my yard, my kid’s education will be paid for (I am also the daughter of an immigrant from Communist Europe, who fully understands and has experiences repression first hand). I know I am lucky, and I am the BIGGEST PATRIOT you will ever find, and now it’s my turn to give back. I am voting for Obama, and I hope that I have convinced some of you to do the same.

  290. Zoey August 17, 2008

After watching last night’s televised show with Pastor Warren, Obama’s performance reflects how inexperienced he is compared to McCain. His answers were definitely did not impressive. I dont care what all the strategists says, Obama did not come close to McCains experienced and knowledgeable responses and McCains answers came from his heart he was very passionate for his love for this country. I hope the voters remember that Michelle Obama’s ridiculous comment ” that for the first time she is proud to be an American”, where was she living all the time? she only became proud of America when her husband got nominated, give me a break somebody!………….and she calls her an American!!.Obama is only in this presidential race for the celebrity status & history, in a way you can perceive he is a bit like John Edwards all fluff & and no depth, & so pretensive!!! mark my words if Obama wins, this country will be worst off, we will all look back and say Bush wasnt so bad after all!! Obama is going to raise taxes on the middle class, watch out Obama voters!!!

  291. Brian James July 24, 2008

I was reading the first couple comments from back in January and I’m wondering what their perception of Obama is now after he has campaigned, defined himself as a presidential candidate and now clinching the Democratic presidential nomination…

I wrote an article on my site in regards to the cover of The New Yorker. Check it out and feel free to leave comments and opinions!

  292. Daisy July 17, 2008

Senator Obama should not even bother to respond to the ignorance of the NEW Yorker cartoon. It is so ridiculous that American’s would still believe that he was a Muslim terrorist. The part that makes us ignorant is the fact that people in this day an age would have a problem if he was Muslim. Not all Muslims are terrorists people. and its a shame that we live in a world where people still think this

I am glad he is gong to win the nomination, its about time. Hillary’s refusal to concede only damaged the party.

  296. Theresa May 21, 2008

Kudos to Obama for defending his wife against the republican machine! Hang in the Michelle! Stay strong!

  297. Emma May 18, 2008

Obama may still be the guy to have a strong chance to be our next president……….if he could get Hillary to withdraw and support him……he can overcome all the negative issues & put those behind him. We definitely do not need McCain in office……..our country is already in shambles and MCcain will just make it worst if he gets in. People need to realize that Obama is our only chance to repair this country & the people

Senator Obama, great job on addressing the environment and saying that you will sit down with Al Gore to discuss how to help. He should be an integral part of the team. You show that you understand the importance of saving our environment and the threat of global warming on this planet. You have my vote!

This whole Rev Wright issue needs to end. We have all been around people that we don’t agree with but that does not shape who we are. So what if he was in the church for 20 years. People have been worshiping the Pope for decades and his stance on gays and women’s rights are deplorable. Billy Graham was also very controversial in some of his political views yet he stood by as spiritual adviser to many presidents. The point is that if this is the ONLY point they have that makes Barak not a good choice for President then they have no point. Its time to focus on the issues

The man for change could not change the minds of the people of Pennsylvania. While he lost by a huge margin Obama is still the man for the job. Its sad that we have reached the point that we must now go to the convention. Obama is the change our country needs to get out of recession and back to the once great country that we were and will be again!

Senator Obaba is sounding good, but the Rezco decision sticks out like a sore thumb. In addtion, the statement his wife made about being ashamed of this country is outrageous. She must have gotten carried away in the moment, just like when Hillary Clinton said she was dodging sniper fire in Bosnia.

I understand that the campaign trail is a strenous trek, but its not like these millionaires have real jobs. They are not coal miners, lumberjacks or front line infantry in Iraq. And they are trying to portray each other as eliteists when they are all rich and out of touch with regular people.

  302. Stacy April 4, 2008

Al Gore on his team would be amazing! Senator Obama is smart to have Al Gore on board when it comes to discussing the environment because he is so passionate about it! I truly believe that Obama is the right man to be our president!

Finally coming out with his racism speech! Too bad it was too late he is now behind in the polls! How can you excuse a reverend you have been listening two for the last 20 years by equating him to your grandma’s racism? True you may not believe your grandma but she is your blood you have to keep her in your family. To come back to a church that spews hatred week after week seems an entirely different entity all together. You are now making the conscious choice attend and listen to this man. He is not your family America better be careful!

  304. andy March 14, 2008

He can pass as many policies as he wants and have a plan of action, but that does not make you right for the Commander in Chief position. He has no experience and can not relate to the life of the soldier so how can our soldiers look up to him? How can people look to him to get us out of Iraq? He is neither ready nor capable for the job. McCain is the only one with the experience and the confidence to protect our troops!

  305. tim March 11, 2008

He obviously does not have such a great judge of character if his top adviser is foolish enough to call senator Clinton a monster publicly. Then she said “off the record” as if she could trust the tv reporters? How foolish! If he trusted her than how can we trust him to run our country? Maybe their is something to be said for the Clinton commercial. Maybe I don’t want him on the phone when that call comes!

  306. heeda February 21, 2008

Well he is looking like he might be our next president! I am so happy that Obama is inching ahead of Hillary! He is the change our country needs to get back on its feet. America used to be the leader and now people laugh at us. Obama can bring us back to that great nation we once were!

  307. tony February 16, 2008

Evelyn , what are you talking about? First Health care? What about the fact that our dollar is at its all time low? What about the fact that more people are living below the poverty line than ever before while more and more jobs are being outsourced every day? Also, who cares if Obama is down to earth? I only care if he can run the country!

  308. EVelyn February 16, 2008

I just read an article on Obama and he seems so down to earth! He said that his first plan in office is to reform health care. For someone like me who lived without insurance for over 5 years this is vitally important! He also said he would begin withdrawing troops in Iraq. Obama clearly knows what this country needs! He is the man for the job!

  309. stacy February 10, 2008

Obama will lose this nomination due to the fact that his major supporters are young kids who don’t get out there to register and vote! We finally have a chance to change the face of politics and we will miss this opportunity because their are too many idiots out there not registered! Obama is finally someone ready to make a change for the people and he will miss this opportunity! What a shame!

  310. Damien February 1, 2008

Anyone who can’t hide the fact that they have a personal grudge cannot be our next president. It was shameful for Obama not to shake Hillary’s hand. A future president should be able to hide his personal feelings. This does not bode well for Obama.

  311. mbeharry January 31, 2008

That real-estate deal calls his judgment into question. Especially when he is using the word “judgment” a lot in reference to Hillary.

Unfortunately, In my opinion, that small mistake might have blown his cover. Because, it is exactly those types of deals evil politicians make every day.

Sorry Barack, even simpletons know not to enter into real-estate deals with people currently under indictment.

  312. Taylor January 21, 2008

Senator Obama need to start telling us what he is about and focusing on answering direct issues or Hillary will have him beat!

  313. Susie January 17, 2008

Senator Obama keeps speaking about a change and I do believe this country is in dire need of a change However after all of his chit chatting I still am confused as to what Mr. Obama stands for. He has yet to clearly define what his plans for change is. I am a bit disheartened by the fact that he has yet to give me a concise picture as to what he sees for our country. This makes me a bit hesitant to trust him with our presidency!
