Hamid Karzai: Ex-President of Afghanistan

 

Currently: Karzai is in Washington and just completed a joint press conference with President Obama where they discussed many of the challenges ahead and renewed their joint commitments towards peace and security.  Read more the event from the AP

Bio: Hamid Karzai (born 24 December 1957) is the 12th and current President of Afghanistan, taking office on 7 December 2004. He became a dominant political figure after the removal of the Taliban government in late 2001. During the International Conference on Afghanistan in Bonn, Germany, on 5 December 2001, Karzai was selected by prominent Afghan political figures to serve a six month term as Chairman of the Transitional Administration. He was then chosen for a two years term as the Interim President during the 2002 Loya Jirga in Kabul, Afghanistan. After the 2004 presidential election, Karzai won and became President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. He then won the 2009 presidential election after his opponent withdrew from the run-off race.[2]

    As an Afghan, naturally and historically we all Afghans respect our president Hamid Karzai. but he is very very and very weak in leading the nation and managing how to eliminate the curruption from the government. because in most cases now we felt that he him self supports the high level currupt officials (ministers, parliment members, judges, his advisors, …..).

    i am a government employee can see that 100% of Karzai’s Cabenit is CURRUPT ministers i can see. all of them have companies and doing their own business.

    Mr. Hamid Karzai also weak in seting up the stright and development vision and stratigy. since last eleven years we observe that he and his government in cmparison the budget used for the develoment of the country did not do any foundimental job thats why i am an Afghan not happy from him and his gov…
