Andrew Johnson – 17th President of the US

 

 Andrew Johnson was the 17th President of the United States from 1865 to 1869.  He became President after the Assignation of  President Abraham Lincoln. As President Johnson favored restoration of  seceded states to the Union. His plan offered no protection to previous slaves and conflicted with his Republican dominated Congress. He was the first president to be impeached but was acquitted by a single vote in the Senate.
